Anything on replacing the USB ports?

I've noticed specific sections for different components of the Wii, but nothing for the USB ports. I suspect that my USB ports have been corrupted internally. USB Loader GX used to work on a 4gb thumb drive, but suddenly stopped working. I also tried Configurable USB Loader, but that doesn't work. I may consider uLoader or WiiFlow, but I expect that I will be wasting my time. Anyway, I'd rather not send my Wii back to Nintendo for repairs, as I'm sure they'll complain about the mods and decide that I was in some violation of the warranty, whereby wasting more time. If I can, I'd like to first diagnose the health of the USB ports. But, all indications are that the Wii is unable to mount the USB port(s). I see that message when loading Homebrew Browser. And I've installed the "lsusb" app which doesn't list usb0 or usb1. Pressing 'A' (which apparently defaults to ubs0) results in a (-6) error, which seems to indicate that usb0 isn't even present??? Anyway, I seem to be digressing. What I'm looking for is a tutorial on how to first diagnose the health of the USB ports, and then how to replace them if they are in fact corrupted or in need of some sort of repair.

    Thanks!

i would try known-good USB controllers (rockband instruments, ect ect). if those work with no problem, id suspect you have a corrupted IOS / program somewhere. however, if those do not work, id wager your usb ports are damaged somehow.

it happens. its electronic; it can break

well, as i don't own any other usb controllers, nor will i go out and purchase one for this sole purpose, is there a way to determine the ios/program that could be corrupted?

Not sure if this is the correct place? seen as it involves repairs may be so? I have faint black stripes down the screen & when games are playing its different coloured pixels striped down the screen. From what I have read it due to overheating? Do you have any repair guides to fix this problem?

    Help identify loose part ?

    Hi,
I opened up my wii dvd drive to replace the laser lens with a new one and found this plastic part lying loose, can any of you wii gurus help me identify where this part should go ?

Game discs do not spin in this dvd drive when inserted, the game disc does insert and eject alright though.

I opened up a second wii console to compare them and try to identify it but I could not spot it.

    Please help ?

Here's two pictures, I put a screwdriver next to the part to help my phones camera focus upon something for a close up picture-

    Thanks
