Hey there, first off I would just like to thank you on the excellent tutorial.

I'm just having a couple issues.

I first off tested in NeoGamma and was given the Disk Read (1208) Error with my drive dating 20080714.

Since you said that as long as there isn't an error stating that there is a problem with the drive I then continued.

I went through every step and installed all WADs and APPs but when I go to launch LoZ:TP from my Verbatim DVD-R, it's still giving me the 1208 error.

With my Twilight Princess ISO, all I did was open it in IMGBurn and started the write at X2 speed.

Do I have to shrink the ISO+Patch it to make NeoGamma recognize the disk?

    **EDIT
Burned disk LoZ:TP at x1 burn speed and was able to load it in Dolphin after burn. I was very hopeful so tried the newly burned disk in the Wii. Still receiving the 1208 error message.

This is going to sound dumb but I've been trying to run NeoGamma in external mode and for the life of me I can't find the GC.Dol file anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction of the GC.dol's necessary I'm attempting to run Killer 7 multi-iso but I need to use the patched MIOS boot method but I can't because I don't have the necessary dol file. I know I had and I've seen it but i've searched for a couple of hours and I'm beat. Anybody have any tips?

I haven't tried this yet since I'm still looking for my GC controllers, but do backup multi-disc games like tales of symphonia work with no problems when changing discs?

There are several ways to boot GC backup games, here are 2 common lists to check out if you're curious if you're game will work. They're official and there's a link to PAL if you need it on the second link for GCOS.

That is the test that is recommended by WiiPower. Is your Wii capable of playing DVD backups / Have you ever played a game from a backup disc? Was your Wii manufactured before 12/2009? If it was, has it been in for warranty work or repairs? I'm leaning towards the fact that your Wii is not capable of reading backup discs. When I run the test on my Wii with no disc in the drive, there is no 1208 error.

Since you said that as long as there isn't an error stating that there is a problem with the drive I then continued.
But you did receive an error, you received a disc read error 1208 with no disc in the drive, try the test with the latest neogamma, it should state if your drive is too new. I just tried the test on my red Wii (manufactured in 2010) and I get a dvd drive date of 20081218, so that don't mean too much. With my older Wii there is no drive date displayed.

Try installing the latest NeoGamma, I still need to update the guide with it.

What do you mean by dol file? You should be trying to run a GC iso, you need an iso or gcm file to burn to the disc. If you have not installed the cMIOS then do that (directions are in the first post), that is the only thing you need to install to make GC backups playable.

I'm sorry I know I didn't make it clear because I'm not understanding it properly myself. I'll keep it simple. I'm trying to run NeoGamma in External Mode, and booot Killer 7 with (B) button to boot with patched MIOS per directions on the "compatibility lists" I've found. And yes I have cMIOSv10 installed ;-)

I've already successfully played many backup games w/NeoGamma both Multi and non Multi-ISO. Granted I'm not using the best media out there which is Verbatim with the AZO dye, all my discs I've burned have worked except for Killer 7. So from what I've read in you're spoiler and compatibility list, I need a GC.dol in the NeoGamma folder on the root of the SD card in order to run the game in "External Mode" and then hold the (B) button to boot instead of (A) which is why I need the GC.Dol file. Booting with a patched MIOS is not possible in GC internal mode. Am I incorrect? From my understanding it's just a boot file, and it used to come with certain packs but for some reason I can't find it lately. I crave enlightenment, please help! And thanks, for the response.

Edit: I will be attempting to burn on better media soon but regardless this game works in external mode so I'd like to attempt that first as I've had no problems backing up other games.

hi, i softmodded my wii about 12 months ago using the softmod any wii guide. i am trying to play super mario sunshine on the wii. i loaded the disc and booted it through neogamma r8 , this then went to wiigators gamecube loader and i loaded the game via a gamecube controller, the game loaded but then stuck at the intro and came up with an error saying it could not read the disc. now it wont read the disc at all and every new disc i burn with imgburn wont work, any help would be much appreciated. i have tried wii backups and they work fine so i dont think i have a hardware issue. it is a long time since i used imgburn as i use wbfs manager and an external hdd. i set the write speed to x1 is this ok?

@poundage, Killer7 uses the same boot method as your other GC backups. I just made a backup of this game the other day and it loads fine. I created a multidisc with Killer7 disc1 and disc2, I did not shrink the ISO's. I burned with IMGburn to a Taiyo Yuden +R, I couldn't find the book type settings with IMGburn but burned it anyways, and the disc works.

I think when you said you pressed the "B" button because you saw it at the compatibility list, that was referring to WiiGators Gamecube backup launcher, which is not supported anymore.

In Neogamma GC settings do this

    Gamecube mode = internal
    Patched MIOS = auto

    picture

I updated the GC mode behavior in the first post. Wiipower keeps making updates to it.

    Gamecube Mode:
'MIOS' is the old behavior, it just starts the MIOS if a GC disc is inserted.
'internal' starts the included GC Backup Launcher from WiiGator(requires compatible cMIOS).
'external' starts an GC homebrew .dol from storage
As you can see, external setting is for launching GC homebrew from your storage device, which could be used to boot the old GC backup launcher, but that's pointless.

    ----------------------------------

@doug, install the latest cMIOS from the first post, and then use NeoGamma (try the latest version, not r8) to load your GC games. It seems that Mario Sunshine should have worked, maybe you have a bad burn, or a bad ISO that you used to make the disc.

Duly noted thanks Stomp, I'll try burning on better media and now have a better understanding of the program itself. Couldn't ask for more.

    Multi-DVD issue

I have a Hard and softmoded 4.3u wii

I seem to be able too:
    - Run backup Wii games directly from the disc channel
    - run backup GC games from the NeoGamma Loader

but I can't seem to load any Multi-game ISOs! I tried compressed, uncompressed NTSC and PAL. (and for the compressed I followed the instructions on saving the compressed files and running FSTfix.exe on them, The games I burned into the same DVD were on the "working" compatibility list for compressed and Multi dvd.) I keep Getting stuck in a loop where the GCOS keeps asking "This game Needs to set up audio press A" and then another Screen appears asking for the video Mode, and it never loads the game.

I'm using the NeoGamma files from this tutorial and I softmodded using the "Softmod Any wii" Tutorial by Mauifrog.
