I wouldn't think it was a cost issue as that would mainly depend on availability. Either drive could probably be mass produced for about the same price. Seems more logical that it along with the system menu updates are just ways to stop piracy in general and every industry takes simular steps.

How do you install the cMIOS?

I have neogamma on my wii already but I do not understand the instructions of how to install the cMIOS. The provided link wasn't helpful either as it was a general view on how to use it.
I understand that you press database on the NUS downloader and then IOS...but is it IOS4 that i want? The instructions say to download "MIOSv4" but i want to make sure i'm downloading the right one for gamecube backup playing.
    Thanks

Just thought I would pass this along to you. I tried to use the guide so I could play gamecube games on my wii and ended up with IOS249 stub on my wii, and newer games were no longer playable thru NeoGamma. I had to re-softmode my wii to get it to play new games thru NeoGamma again. This was my experience with trying to play gamecube games on my wii. Good luck with your try.

There is absolutely no reason for that to be true. All you install is cMIOS and a few channels. The only reason you would have a stub is if you updated your Wii or installed it yourself, which isn't part of this guide.

Yes, but I answered that question in mauifrog's guide. Please don't post the same question twice.

I don't understand why my gamecube back ups wont load. I was able to load my wii game backups on neogamma just fine but every time i try to load a gamecube back up it tells me what its going to load then get a black screen and my wii freezes. Can someone help me out? I did everything the guide told me to do except the beginning part where it said that its recommended but not mandatory to get cios37 or cios38 and etc because i already previously installed ciosxrev19. Can someone help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
first of all thanks for the guide, but I have a problem...... when tring to install the mios I get an error the exact wording is

    could not open file sd:/RVL-mios-v4.wad
    could not open file sd:/RVL-mios-v4.wad.out.wad
    could not open file sd:/miosv4.wad
    error reading mios into memory
    mios insterlation failed

to make sure I used the NUSD program proplerly I downloaded the file twice, also to make sure I renamed the file right I have renamed it 3 times, 1 of the times I copy/pasted the file name from the guide so I knew I was not renaming it wrong.
Any help will be much appriciated I got so many games I would like to start playing.

Did you select "Pack as wad"? You need to check that box before downloading. Then, after downloading, go into the folder and find the wad and rename it. Then it gets placed on the root of your SD card.

No where in this guide is there instructions for installing IOS249. And where you got a stub version of IOS249 is beyond me. IOS249 should be installed with one of waninkoko's cIOS installers.

Well, there are 3 variables here, the cMIOS, Neogamma, and your backup disc. Take your pick, one or more are not correct on your end.

    1. The cMIOS is not hard to install, so you probably can eliminate that variable.
    2. Are you using NeoGamma correctly? Play around with some of the GC settings in Neogamma.
    3. Your backup disc. Try a couple of different games, perhaps the first one you tried is not compatible, the source image is bad, or you had a bad burn. Also, make sure to use a source image from your region, just to eliminate an out of region game not working.

Install cIOS38 rev17 to see if that fixes the problem, you can all ways reinstall cIOSx rev19.
