Thanks for that Stomp 442. After I posted my problem, I was reading the 4.2 Hacking guide again and noticed priiloader lets you block updates. So I followed another guide on how to install priiloader and all is fine now. Wii retail discs load fine and so do GC discs through GC Loader 0.2.

So just to clarify, no matter what retail Wii disc I put in, it will never ask me for an update whether it be an old game, fairly recent game (Wii Fit Plus) or any future games? If that's true then I don't have to ever update anything on my Wii and keep it the way it is on 4.2E for as long as I like?

    Cheers

What I ment to say is
when you load a gc game the loader ask to press A for auto B for 480i and so on.
I wish I could just say load all games on the auto setting that way its as fool proof as possible. It makes it more like the wii was before. easy for people
The GameCube launchers were made by WiiGator, NeoGamma is made by WiiPower. I can't say if WiiPower used the GameCube launcher without altering it in Neogamma, we will see what WiiGator does, if anything, because Waninkoko has recently released cMIOS installer rev5, which I will add to the tutorial when all is sorted out with it. I haven't tried it out yet, but am hearing reports of GC backup launcher 0.2 not working when you retrieve MIOS v10 (with NUSD) and pack it as a wad and use it with cMIOS installer rev5.

EDIT - you're right, NeoGamma 6 uses GCBL 0.1 xi to boot gamecube backups. Sorry, that's the only version of NeoGamma I have right now, so I don't test other versions right now.

You shouldn't see an update again, sometimes the updates install new IOS's, so you will still have to manually install IOS's if a game requires a certain IOS that you do not have installed, you will get a black screen if you do not have the required IOS.

Firmware version does seem off topic for this thread, but I'm sure jerseywii was just replying to Mikey_01.

I just tried waninkoko's cMIOS rev5 installer and did a network install of MIOS v10. All went well. It seems the GC backup disc must be inserted before selecting the backup loader of your choice. I tried 3 loaders where I started the loader then inserted the disc and none of them worked. So insert the disc first, then start the backup loader.

How did you get v10 to come up? It is only giving me v4, v5, v8. My miospatcher came from your signature link if it matters.

I did a network install and MIOS v10 was one of the options. I think I have the wad on the root of my SD card but that shouldn't be used when doing a network install.

Odd, it didn't give me the choice of a network install...i'm going to look at it again. Did you just install v10 over v8, or did you uninstall v8 then install v10? Same with the cMIOS.

I double checked and the mIOS patcher goes straight to a screen that asks to me pick a version and how i want it to load...no network install
