Nash, you must be confused, DVD -R and DVD +R are one time write only media. DVD -RW and DVD +RW means the media is rewritable.

qax, I would recommend getting some DVD -R. But you can use DVD +R, when you create the disc, make sure you set the Book Type to DVD ROM. Your burner must support the Book Type setting, but most current burners do support Book Type. Have a look the the disc burning section for instructions on how to burn a Wii disc.

Nice guide, but i am having problems with this step:

    1. miospatcher - You will need a wi-fi connection for this process.

Copy "miospatcher" folder to the apps folder of your Wii SD card.
    1. Run this app from HomeBrew Channel.
    2. Read the on-screen menu, select "Version: MIOS v8"
    3. Next, "Supported Boot Method", press the "X" button to change, I don't
see how this selection will change anything so select what you want.
    4. Now press the A button to install the patch.
    5. The patched MIOS is based from MIOS v8.779
After i get the folder onto my SD card i go to the HomeBrew channel and run the app, it says it loads but then i just get a black screen and i cant do anything, i am completely new to all this so i know there has to be some small thing i am missing P=

EDIT: nevermind, after a good 5 hours of working with it i finally got it to work, still have no idea what the issue was though.

I burned a PAL game on a DVD+R and I can play it, but it's in black and white. Is there a way to make it play in color? I playing on a US Wii, by the way.

You need to force NTSC. If you use GameCube backup launcher then press the "Y" button to select NTSC. But, you can try the "A" button to see if auto select works.

I tried that and the screen just turned gray.
Does it have to do with not burning it as a DVD-Rom?

DVD +R needs the book type set to DVD ROM. If you don't do that with DVD +R then the disc will not work.

Do you have IMGburn installed, install it if you don't. After that is installed, right click on the gamecube ISO and select "Burn with IMGburn". Then IMGburn will boot and you will see the GC image already mounted. Now insert your blank disc. After IMGburn recognizes your disc, have a look about the settings. I don't have any DVD +R discs so I cannot tell you exactly where to look. But just make sure you find the setting and make sure Book Type is set to DVD ROM.
