No, it isn't very often that new ones come out. The most frequent update is probably the Wii Shopping Channel. If you update those IOS's that I posted, then you should be able to play just about any new game, as long as you have disc updates blocked with Priiloader.

IOS's are updated whenever there is a new System Menu, but you don't need all of them for games. Just make sure that you NEVER install a stub IOS.

A stubbed IOS is just a slot filler. It does nothing but fill a hole. Lets say you install a stubbed System IOS over top a the actual System IOS. That would lead a to fully bricked Wii. As JoostinOnline said... never install a stubbed IOS.

Nintendo installs stubs for two different reasons:
    1) The IOS is mothballed (no longer used/needed for the latest System Menu)
    2) As piracy prevention. They replace cIOS's (like 222,249, etc.) with stubs so you have to reinstall your cIOSs. Obviously, it isn't very effective.

Remember, you never have any reason to install a stub. If the IOS is mothballed, then it won't hurt to leave it alone.

Edit: Check out Ithians guide on IOS's.

    Good advices on this thread.

Just a question regarding stubs. I Have 3.2E. The verson to use is 1040 (I think). If the risk is only when you downgrade I am safe, since I cant think of a reason downgrading from 3.2.
When upgrading system menu the stub must be replaced otherwaise you cant upgrade...
But what I know today I probably have forgotten tomorrow, so upgrading to 6174 seems as a good idea. Is there any problems running 3.2E under 6174, or is a higher number automaticly functional ?
I dont want to risk upgrading to 6174, than be unable to use system menu 3.2 (and also risc to be unable to upgrade to a menu compliant with 6174.

I think my son (and later out of desperation, me too) have contravened nearly all the rules....the most important ones anyway.

First off, we had a perfect working hard modded system and also with HBC, Neogamma etc. It was on 4.1 Pal. But then my son was doing whatever and updated to 4.3e and we couldn't get any original games going at all. He then ran the update again and formatted the drive to see if we could at least get the original games working so that we could run Indiana Jones original to get the fix working.

I don't know exactly what a bricked Wii is, but suspect that is what we are left with now. Nothing shows up on the SD card or the DVD at all. We haven't even tried to run anything from the SD card because we can't get an original game to run. So if there's no other solutions, does this mean that the Wii is bricked?

Did you or your son install cioscorp/darkcorp?
Can you copy save games and channels/wiiware/vc etc to/from your sd card?
