Ok, This is my List. First off, I would like to say that ALL Harddrives I use are connected to the Wii VIA "Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter".

    #1:
    Size: 1TB
Brand: Western Digital My Book Home Edition (Removed from External Casing)
    Model: WD10EAVS - 00D7B1
Format: Split Partition (500GB WBFS & 500GB NTFS) WBFS set as Active Primary (NTFS Also works as Active Primary)
    Firmware/Softmod: 4.3U, Multiple cIOS's
Loader: USB Loader GX (Latest), WiiFlow (Latest), Configurable USB Loader (Latest) All Working
Comments: Works like a dream. Currently have 72 games installed on the WBFS Partition and all work flawlessly.

    #2:
    Size: 250 GB
    Brand: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
    Modle: ST3250410AS
    Format: WBFS
    Firmware/Softmod: 4.3U, Multiple cIOS's
Loader: USB Loader GX (Latest), WiiFlow (Latest), Configurable USB Loader (Latest) All Working
Comments: Really slow to start up. After tuning on the Wii and the HD, it takes avarage 3-5 minutes for it to reach its full spin. After that, it works perfectly. (18 Games tested)

    #3
    Size: 1TB
Brand: Hitachi (Purchased as a LaCie 1TB Aluminum Thermal External. Casing Removed)
    Model: HX15KLJH
    Format: WBFS 500GB Partition
    Firmware/Softmod: 4.3U, Multiple cIOS's
Loader: USB Loader GX (Latest), WiiFlow (Latest), Configurable USB Loader (Latest) All Working
Comments: worked for a month before a power outage took it out. Only tested 5 games extensively. Very sensitive to power surges/power outages/Physical force.

    #4
    Size: 10.2 GB
    Brand: Maxtor
    Model: 51024H2
    Format: WBFS
    Firmware/Softmod: 4.3U, Multiple cIOS's
Loader: USB Loader GX (Latest), WiiFlow (Latest), Configurable USB Loader (Latest) All Working
Comments: Initial Test Drive. Backed-up 3 games. All played flawlessly. Drive worked flawlessly. Retired after 1 week.

If any more info is needed, please ask. Thank you. Will continue testing various other Harddrives.

    Size: 500GB
    Brand: Toshiba
    Model: v63700-A
    P/N: HDTB105AK3AA
    Format: NTFS
    Firmware/Softmod: 4.3U (Softmodded with a tutorial I've forgotten )
Loader: USB Loader GX is the only one that worked.
    Does not work consistently.
Comments: I was able to get USB Loader GX to detect the drive only if it was unplugged when the console was turned on and the program was first started, plugging it in only at the point USB Loader GX started counting down with its "Please connect a drive" timer. Many games won't work at all, most games will freeze within a few seconds to a few minutes, and there are only a few games that don't crash as often - but eventually they all freeze and require a hard power-off.

just got through fighting with a wd my book 2tb (wdbacw0020hbk-newm) tried in wdfs and ntfs (like my previous hacks for mine and family members). i also tried fat32 and even just wbfs. i'm using the current guide (at time of post) on both a 4.2u (w/updated wads) and a friends 4.3u. both are running the latest usb loader gx. also tried neogama in wbfs. this drive seems not to work with the wiis and is about to get returned to walmart. i've forgotten the exact cios and revisions of the software but they on the softmod any wii guide right now. a tip to everyone, learn from my experience and stick to the list lol.

Thumbs up WORKING 1TB USB 3.0 Hard Drive

    Size: 1TB
Brand: Seagate Expansion Portable (USB 3.0) Drive (WORKING 3.0)
    Model: STBX1000101
    Regulatory Model:SRD00F1
Format: FAT32 (used [Guide] FAT32) (WORKING)
Softmod: (used complete up to date Mauifrog Softmod) Guide: Softmod ANY Wii (WORKING)

I just bought this HDD a couple weeks ago and it is Awesome. It works perfectly with all the apps in the guide and has no problems at all. It allowed me to stop using my SD card and 32gb Cruzer Glide that my 7yr old son kept taking out and loosing. Now I keep all of my apps, backups, emulators, roms, and videos all on this one drive formatted to FAT32 without additional partitions. It has a solid durable shell and a short usb 3.0 to 2.0 cable, so there's no risk of tangling or snagging the cable. I bought mine from Target(in store) w/10% off for $70. Here is a link to AMAZON for the exact Hdd described. Plus, you can get a 2TB for $99 from Target, although I don't know if its tested and approved(Working)

    THANK YOU Everyone at WiiHacks

Seagate Freeagent Desk 500GB - Working with issues

I just switched this hard drive to my wii and was having issues. I was able to fix the issues using the software that came on the drive. It has some power saving feature that screws it up but I changed it to never use that feature and it's been working perfect since.
