I softmodded my wii ages ago and it uses a big old 500gb external harddrive, but i wondered if i could update my harddrive and use one of these much smaller portable drives that dont need a power supply.

    Do these work?

I am looking at this 1 - TOSHIBA Stor.e Basics Portable Hard Drive - 500GB at cheap prices | PC World

As I said, those are the only 2TB-3TB drives(It just so happens that those are all 2TB, but they are under the 2TB+ spoiler tag) that have been tested.
If yours is not listed, then it has not been tested/listed.

I suggest posting your model name and number in case another user has tried this drive before.

Is it normal for the USB HDD to stay on after the Wii is turned off? I have a Seagate Go drive and the front light stays on even when the Wii is off. When I use this with my laptop, it turns off when my laptop is powered off.
