I have had that exact drive and it worked fine. How do you have it formatted? NTFS? FAT? WBFS? I had that one dual partitioned with a huge WBFS partition and a 10 GB FAT partition and the wii read all games just fine. Did have some troubles with the FAT partition, but shortly moved on to a bigger drive so I didn't try to hard to figure out about the FAT partition.

Or try FAT32 Loading, that seems to be popular now a days.
Or NTFS loading also works. Do some research and make your decision based on what your needs are. Good luck!
If your having a different issue, or nothing I said makes sense, reply back with some more info and someone should be able to help you.

I searched every thread trying to figure out how to fix this however could find nothing. The Toshiba PH3100U-1EXB DOES work with ConfigurableUSBLoader V. 65, however you have to unplug the usb cable EVERY time you switch games. I searched and searched and could find no fix so I took it back. I also tried to load with various cios versions but no luck it would not find the device until the usb was unplugged and plugged back in.

Hitachi XL 1000
I am trying this drive now, however there is no way to change the power settings so I fail to see how this is going to work. It seems once the drive goes idle the game will cause an error. I could find no fixes anywhere, no user manuals, no help in any searchable forums or at Hitachi's website......looks iffy! Any fixes before I take it back?

Try to get one that is on the list, and proven compatible. That would solve your issues....lol. Western Digital Passports have been flawless for me and many many others, that might be worth looking into. Good luck!

Hi I have been having some problems with my HD
Brand Western Digital My Passport Essential

i have tried in other Wii with the exact same System Menu and softmod, works on some but not on others

Seems like it's the USB 3.0 that's causing the issues. I have seen zero success stories with those "upgradable" seagate drives and USB 2.0/3.0 WD Passports. Take it back if you can and get the proven reliability with the USB 2.0 only. Hasn't failed me yet and they work every time! Gonna be harder to find soon as it looks like the USB 3.0 feature is making it's way to the market. Or atleast I haven't seen the right guide to make them work properly. Any members have a fully functional USB 2.0/3.0 passport or similar??

Nope I bought a WD 1tb mybook essential 3.0. It's works good with CFG and mighty channels but that's about it. Tried it with FAT, WBFS and NTFS. Couldn't get it to work right with anything except CFG. I'm getting a WD 1TB element but I also need to know what model docent have the spin down issues. Or if it's fixable with the smartware.

Oh...interesting. But I'm curious to know about the ultra portable passports mostly. That's pretty much what I get and recommend to anyone wanting to mod theirs. I will be upgrading to a 1TB soon and will be going for the 2.0 only to avoid any possible issues. Also like to use wiiflow and gx sometimes....so a proven reliable drive is what I need. Thanks for the reply though!
