iomega Select Portable Hard Drive 500gb 2.5"
    Working...

Very happy, as it was on sale, and is powered by USB, so I was concerned, but it loads Mighty Channels, CFG USB Loader and HBC apps, which my last HDD (3.5" in external enclosure) could not do correctly.
Give credit where credit is due. If it helps you, click "thanks" on ANY guide I link.

    Hi!

I am very new to the wii hacking and I can't say exactly what I did to my platform, because I had to use two or three different guides for over a week. Anyway, I managed to hack it and to play games via USB disk. Here is the information I can provide:

DISK: Transcend SJ25M2, 500 GB, 60GB WBFS (primary, active)+400GB NTFS, uploaded several games and tested two of them - Tron, Crash of the Titans. Both working fine (Using the WBFS system, I didn't try the NTFS or FAT32 methods)

    Wii - Black edition, v4.2
    Softmod - bannerbomb, dogeggs, ...
IOS - after installing 236, it finally worked, but before that I installed 249, 202, 222 and god knows what else
    USB Loader GX 2.0

    Exclamation Be aware

I have 5 of the same exact enclosures, all same chip sets and components and only 3 work with the wii. All 5 work perfectly with windows as NTFS, FAT32 and WBFS however the 2 will not start in wii flow. I tested the enclosures with the same drive, power supply and USB cable.

    ideas?

keep in mind the 2 that dont work have the same components down to the numbers and all work fine in windows.

    enclosures are "venus DS3" ide

In the first post, it lists the Iomega GDHDU 1TB as working. My dirve lists it as GDHDU2. Would they be the same?

You do not give enough information. I googled GDHDU2 and came up with nothing specific, on the other hand when I googled GDHDU just about every link contained the same usb hdd. Usually if the serial number is different then the hard drives are different, unless the difference is a letter that desigantes the color of the hdd. What would the 2 designate in GDHDU2?

I also googled this. I don't know alot about hard drives and such. All I can tell you is that I bought a hard drive for my sattelite reciever to use as a PVR. It was a decent price and thought I would buy the same one for my wii. I looked at the model # and that is what it shows, GDHDU2.

Since you already have one why not try it out? That would be the best way to find out if it is compatible.
