I think for this post we should include the speed of ripping a wii disc to the hard drive or usb.
For example. I have the Corsair Flash Voyager USB Flash Drive 16GB and it is confirm working. However, when it comes to rip a game. It's will take you forever !!!!

    Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB

Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB. Two partitions. 1-WBFS(FAT32 PRIMARY), 2-FAT32 or NTFS. The WBFS partition has to be PRIMARY, otherwise you`ll get black screen when loading a game.

I have three setups currently. One is a 1tb seagate free agent, externally powered, #2 is a sabrenth case with a 500gb WD Blue drive and the latest is a 320 hitachi USB powered. I plug both USB into the wii usb port and have plugged in only one as well. So far there has been no speed difference at all. When ripping disc to the drive the hitachi is actually faster than the others.

    Hope this helps

Is there a HDD that is recommend because i have two wii's 4.2 and 4.1 i need one HDD to work with both
Since I have 3 wii's that I have modded, have access to and running currently I tried swapping drives back and forth between them. There is one each at 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3, all NTSC, USA, USB loader GX, modded with the fine tutorials given on this site and the 4.3 is using the upgraded component cord vs the stock composite cord. (I don't know if the cord makes a difference I don't think there is any way possible but it is info). Games I ripped to the drives to get speeds were The Conduit, DK Country Returns and Call of Duty, World at War, added top achieved ripping speeds together then divided by three to get the average. Created a lot of erasing and redoing, but was curious to see and using the same games took the variables out of it.

    Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to add to this thread and say that the 2 TB My Book Essential External Hard Drive Model: WDBAAF0020HBK-NESN works just fine as an external USB storage unit for ISO's.

I bought the drive today and tested it. Enjoy..
