    Western Digital My Passport Essential(500 GB's)
    (Ultra Portable Hard Drive)

    Model#WDBAAA5000ABK-NESN

    2 Wii's softmodded to 4.0 & 4.1
    using 249 rev17
    works with 250 rev20(base ios56)
    works with Hermes,222,223
    works with 248 rev20(base ios57)

    I have Noticed That On some Wii's it will play choppy and freeze on and off.
    This was fixed by Buying A HDD with External Power Source (2 wii's) @4.2u.

    I still use both these HDD's to this day, Partition's (NTSF/FAT32)

    Hope this was Helpful.

    When I first softmodded my Wii, I used a OCZ Rally2 4GB thumb drive. Used for several weeks before I got HDD installed. Formatted to WBFS, CFG Loader v57b7, IOS249v17 and v19, 4.2U SM. Also would like to add an OCZ Rally2 16GB thumb drive, exact same setup as the 4GB, works flawlessly, using it instead of HDD now.

    Hi I have a WD Elements drive, model WD6400EB035-01 which I have been using with some success but it's a real pain adding ISO files to the drive. I have formatted the whole drive as WBFS and I'm using WBFS Manager 3.0 to add files to the drive. The issue I'm having is that whenever I plug the drive into my PC I get a window popping up telling me "You need to format the disk drive before you can use it". This window pops up multiple times when using WBFS Manager and attemtping to transfer a file to it. I have tried closing the messages but as soon as one pops up this must interfere with the WBFS Manager program and stops it from transferring properly.

    WBFS Manager still goes through the process of adding the file to the drive and even says that it has been added successfully but the file isn't shown on the list of games on the drive. As I said, previously I have been able to add files to the drive without too many problems but recently it's got to the point where I can't add files at all. Has anyone else experienced this problem? It seems that Windows is constantly trying to access the drive but because it's a format it doesn't recognise it's causing a problem.

    Do I need to reformat my drive or is there something physically wrong with the drive/bad sectors? I can play the games that are currently on the drive on the Wii with no problems.

    Thanks for your help.

    EDIT: I've now found out what was wrong, it turns out that it was a faulty USB cable and since replacing it with a new one, the drive now works fine and I am able to use WBFS Manager as normal and with no problems.
