the model number is grabbed off of friendly name for device drivers I wouldnt suggest using this as it is from comstar and will probly fail depending on how much you use it but it is cheap

    Hitachi Externaldrive
    Simple drive III
    1TB
Works just fine. One nice thing is that it turns off when the Wii turns off and the oder way around.

Aslo got this Docking Station. Rosewill Manufacture

    RX-DUS100

    I formated the HHD into 3 partitions. 500GB WBFS / 30GB FAT32 / 400GB NTFS.

The Wii has Menu 4.1U. I used Neogamma r9b16 and WiiFlow 1.1 on IOS249. Both were able to load the ISO's from the WBFS partition. Homebrew apps worked too. I placed them in the FAT32 Partition.

    Hope this helps

Fujitsu~ 80gig ( came out of my ps3, had to do something with it)

in conjunction with OKGEAR 2.5" USB 2.0 Hard Disk Silicon Protection Case ( found on newegg Newegg.com - OKGEAR OK108 2.5" USB 2.0 Hard Disk Silicon Protection Case)

About the OKGEAR it comes with a double headed USB cables .. there is the Main and then there is the one that comes off the main

It works with the Main plugged into the bottom USB slot and the 2nd USB cable plugged into/ or not in the top USB slot, but it does NOT work with the secondary USB cable (the one that comes off the main USB Cable) plugged into the bottom USB slot.

I bring this up as i don't it if it were to be possible to use a 3.5 HDD with the OKGEAR adaptor (minus the silicon sleeve)

Formated the HDD via "Manage" Computer in Win7

WBSF saw formated loaded files flawlessly

    Wii Softmodded 4.2u

    Used WiiFlow (IOS249) via homebrew

Downloaded and installed Cover art (39 in total "6Front Covers only")

Launched NSMB Wii played the the 1st and 2nd worlds

Launched SMG2 played 30min then i exited to wii system menu

Also while waiting for the OKGEAR to get here from Newegg I used a

Creative Zen + PNY Optima SDHC 8 and 4 gig cards via the "Removable Disk " option in the menu

    Worked like a charm

I've got the HD from the link above,

    It's a Seagate 320gb USB
    ST3320820U2-RK

Works perfectly. I already had data on it so it just partitioned a secondary partition as WBFS (I know the guides said to make it primary but it wouldn't let me without losing the data on the drive and secondary worked fine)

Played all sorts of games from it with no problems at all, and gave it plenty of time to test.

I've got 4.1E, and softmodded using the latest guide
