im on sm 4.0 and i have cios249 rev 14 and hermes 222, 223 v4 using a lacie 160gb hdd brought from asda iv split the patition 30 gig for vidios and other crap and the rest for wii games formated to wbfs it works flawlessly with some games i.e nsmb and zelda, but just recently iv had problems with dead space and silent hill - not too sure if its the drives fault or its just the way in which i hacked my wii, started off at sm 3.4 banner bombed > 3.2 > 4.1 > 4.0 and iv tryed installing cios rev 12, 13a&b, 14 and even tryed that rev 15 just to see if it fixes problems eventully deadspace worked, and now just recently resident evil dsc is working ....... so... it works flawlessly but has some minor problems :/

[EDIT] and im using config loader v50(relese) and Usbloader GX (newest) and gamma r7 and with cfg loader silent hill gets to a point at the start fmv and crashes at a cetain point then on usbloader GX same fmv at the start but crashes in a diffrent place, same with gamma r7

Im using a Seagate Expansion Portable 500gb Hard Drive model ST905004EXA101-RK . So far Ive played several games on with it (a couple of which for hours) with no problems. I can pause the games and leave them for sometime with no problems. The only minor issue Ive found is if Im watching xvid via MPlayerCE_V0.76 and I pause for a while and come back, it will no longer find the hdd. Also while I can pause a game thru the normal game pause and come back, if I hit the Wii home button and leave it long enough for the wiimote to go into sleep Ive had one game lock up when I hit the home botton again and a couple games say "checking disc" and then play again. There was no software on this hdd so I have no idea how to turn off the "sleep mode" or whatever might be causing this. Appreciate if anyone has any suggestions.

Games work great, however a few things must be done in order for the wii recognize the HDD.
1)Format the HDD in FAT32 before formatting with WBFS
2)Unplug the power cord to the HDD before you start the wii and plug it back in once the wii has been started. (If anyone has found a fix this I would appreciate a PM)
