Smile Hackmii -FIX: no vulnerable ios, black screen, scam freeze

    Hackmii Installer -FIX

    This guide should fix:
Hackmii- No Vulnerable Ios Found- suck it
    Hackmii- Black Screen
    Hackmii- Scam Screen Freeze

Format your sd-card- yes, I said FORMAT it
Standard sd card, 1-2g are best. SDHC are not likely to work
Remove gc memory cards, gc controllers, usb devices
    Have some free nand space
    Download casper-hackmii-fix.zip
    Extract to sd:\
If you like, verify md5 checksums with sd:\md5summer.exe from your pc

Part 1- Install wilbrand or letterbomb to sd:\ (SM 3.0-4.3)

    A) Find your wii's mac address-
to find your Wii's MAC address, turn on your Wii, click the Wii button in the bottom left of the main system menu, then click Wii Settings, then Internet, then Console Information.

    B) Find your wii's system menu version
to find your Wii's system menu version, turn on your Wii, click the Wii button in the bottom left of the main system menu, then click Wii Settings. The Wii's system menu version is located in the upper right corner.

    C) Run sd:\Wilbrand GUI.exe from your pc
Enter your wii's MAC address, today's date, your system menu version, and region
It is best if your wii's date and time is set to the current date and time.

    D) Copy the /private folder created by Wilbrand GUI to sd:\

    E) If you are unable to run Wilbrand GUI form a PC, you can use letterbomb found @ LetterBomb
Letterbomb is only setup to server 4.3 system menu's but works the same as wilbrand. Only copy the \private folder to sd:\

    Other Exploits- bannerbomb, disc, etc

Part 2- Make a Nand Backup
Open the Wii's message board, located in the lower right corner of the wii
Go to the date you created wilbrand/letterbomb for
    Open the exploit envelope
The exploit should load casper, which should then load bootmii
    Make a nand backup

Use the buttons on the wii console to navigate bootmii.
Wiimotes do not work, gc controlers do work
Power = Right, Reset = Select, Eject = left

If you are unable to make a nand backup, you can run key-dumper.elf from the bootmii sd loader if needed.
Save your key.bin file to your pc and keep it safe. If you made a full nand backup, also save the nand.bin file.

    Part 3- Install wad files
    Rename sd:\boot.elf to boot-bootmii.elf
    Rename sd:\boot-cboot2.elf to boot.elf

Now run the exploit from the message board again
Now casper should load cboot2, which should load wiimod
    Select the Wad Manager
Press 1, then press A to install all wads
12 wads should install without error
    Exit wiimod

You now have a backup HBC 1.03, postloader forwarder channel, cios236, and several other ios installed.

    Part 4- Load Hackmii Installer
From the main wii channel menu, launch the black Home Brew Channel
    Load the hackmii 1.0 installer
Install bootmii as boot2 if possible
    Install the HBC

Note: If hackmii 1.0 fails to install, exit the installer and load hackmii 0.6. Try to install bootmii as boot2 and the HBC.
There have been a very few cases of older wii's being unable to run the latest hackmii installer, for no known reason. If you are able to install form hackmii 0.6, but unable to install from hackmii 1.0, then most likely there is nothing you can do to get the latest HBC installed. This is ok, since HBC is not needed to have a good hacked wii. If you can not install the newest HBC after following the above instructions, I suggest you use postloader as an alternative. The files are included in this download pack, and the forwarder was installed to your wii.

    Part 5
You now have a nand backup, and some way of loading homebrew apps. Either the HBC or Postloader.
Now you must finish your softmod by completing the softmod process, installing the needed cios and priiloader.
Please complete chapter 2 and 3 of the Guide: Softmod Any Wii

Note: If you where unable to update to the latest HBC, you will need to use postloader. Postloader is installed to your sd card. After completing the softmod guide, you will need to put these files back on your sd card for postloader to work. They are in the download link above, or on postloader goolge page.

Well what did you do so far? Install hombrew channel as a wad? Did you update? You can fix your homebrew problem by following steps 3-5 of this guide. It sounds like you already installed your cios since your loading backups. It is possible that other ios of cioscorp where replaced during the update. If you really want it to work again you may wish to reinstall cioscorp, or not and just use a loader. The intend of this post is simply to get HBC and cios up and running, cioscorp working could be another issue for some.

Since you already have HBC, this guide is more for your situation.

    Problems with stage 1

Ok Stupidly i used the safe updater to go to 4.2 which caused the homebrew channel to be upside down. I then deleted it to try and reinstall it which is where the problems started. No vunerable CIOS. I then formated the wii and upgraded via Nintendo to 4.2E and still unable to instal the HBC.

    So to the guide.

At step 1 I an unable to uninstall IOS249 - the error -1017 is given.
Step2 2 & 3 do also not work as I guess step 1 needs to complete.

I am able to overwrite IOS249 though with the stub.

    Any help!!!

@Dogod- not sure about your wiimote, does it die immediately when the installer starts? We may have to install cios another way.

@itsrainman- did you change ios from 249 to ios36 to uninstall

I'm not exactly sure why it happened, the Wiiremote had full battery and never died on anything else. Nevertheless, I got it to work after coming back an hour or so later. I'm not sure why, but I'm not complaining. As far as I can tell, it's working perfectly now, so I can only hope it will continue to work. (I also learned my lesson about updating the console without a backup - I wasted almost a full day restoring what I had)

@Dogod- so did everything here complete for you? If so do disks load from your disk channel or only loader.

Everything completed. I have yet to try running a disc from the loader. I'm backing everything up first. I'll know if it worked either tonight or tomorrow morning.

EDIT: I was able to run a disc from it! Now comes the real test - running a backup disc.
