You say everything else was 100% working? Have him rename the bootmii folder on the sd to bootmii1 or something like that, then power on the wii with the sd card inserted.

I have looked, searched and we're tried lots of things and I'm losing my mind. I modded our wii using MauiFrogs guide recently without a hitch and was hoping it would go as smoothly this time around. No such luck...

Trying to soft mod using the Letterbomb method on a 4.3.

We got through pretty much everything and thought we were done. HBC is loaded and CFG and various emulators seem to be working just fine. We were able to set up the recommended settings on Priiloader and install all the wads properly.

The big problem is that now Hackmii and Bootmii both freeze!

He cannot access Bootmii. Whenever he tries it instantly freezes. We thought we'd start from scratch, but now every time he even tries to do anything with the SD card, instant freeze. He has attempted to redo the letterbomb from scratch.

Should we attempt the fix in this thread? We've given up for today, but may resume tomorrow. Would like to get a bit of feedback if possible so that we don't waste several more hours trying to fix this.
Have him power the wii without the sd card, then load the HBC. The HBC should load and show nothing but bubbles. Bootmii will not work without the bootmii folder that was created and backup up in chapter 1. If the HBC is working without the sd card but not with it, have him format the card and extract the app pack back to sd card. If the HBC truly is not functioning, test the backup hbc, test the usb channel, and test loading apps from priiloaders app loader. You should not have to do anything found in this post, it is not for your issue.

I have passed this info along to see if it will help. He told me that he could not find a bootmii folder on his SD card. I know that when he tried the backup in the guide, that did not work. We have not yet tried the "alternative method" that is listed.

As of last night, I know he was able to play emulators through the HBC. I've had scant communication with him so far today.

I swear, if he wasn't a good friend of my husband's...lol....

Sounds like his wii is working fine. I would not do any more softmoding to it atm. The bootmii folder should be backup up on his pc, it is not on the sd card as it was removed in chapter 2 format. He can make another one in the hackmii installer if needed.

    MauiFrog's Tutorial not working?

    Hey guys...

I'm the nut-job that had a perfectly working AND modded v3.4U Wii and decided to upgrade to v4.3U. I posted my syscheck about a week ago and a couple folks suggested I try using MauiFrog's "HackMii-Fix" tutorial. In fact... I'm the guy that posted four or five posts ago. I tried everything on the MauiFrog's HackMii Fix Tutorial and even went back and tried a bunch of stuff on the 'Softmod ANY 4.3 Wii"... I must be missing something.. cause I still get the "No Vulnerable IOS" error.

Can anybody be more specific in their help? Like what IOS' am I supposed to have to get this to work? Any links would be greatly appreciated. Here's my syscheck again.. and let me thank y'all for your help in advance... I appreciate any help y'all can provide.

    Spoiler

Thanks for the help MauiFrog.... I installed the new iOS254 and tried running HackMii again.. it failed... here's the installer.log as requested..

    HackMii v0.8 installer starting up
    PVR = 00087200
running under IOS 250 rev 0xffff628 titles are installed
    iosAlloc() failed
got no usable IOS for the installer
    starting preparations

    preparations done!

    This installer can NOT continue!

There is no usable or vulnerable IOS installed on this Wii.
Please note that we will not use fakesigned IOSes due to
security reasons. Only unpatched versions will be used!

    Read the FAQ at: http://hbc.hackmii.com/faq/
Look for an updated version at: http://bootmii.org

If this is already the latest version... well, suck it.

Thanks again for all the help... really fubar'd this one.. didnt I?

Load MMM again, select reload ios and load ios58, then load hackmii from the app manager. Post the new log if it fails.

That is a strange issue. Never seen it before. Give this a try, it may give some insight.
Put this bootmii folder on your sd card
    bootmii_folder-NTSC.zip
Load the bootmii booter, any way you like
    bootmii-booter.zip
    Bootmii should load.
1- make a new nand backup
2- Try to load bootmini.elf from the sd menu in bootmii
    Hackmii_0.8_bootmini.zip
    Post the new installer.log

Check your new nand.bin with nandbincheck. Run it from the shell, post the log here.
    nandbincheck nand.bin -all -v
nandBinCheck (Wii Entry -- PC Software) - GBAtemp.net

    A
fter that you can do chapter 2 and 3 of my softmod guide, then you can at least play with your wii, regardless of hackmii installing or not, just get the nand bin and do chapter 2 and 3. Then we will see about getting hackmii working. Install the ios update in chapter 2. You do need to get the nand.bin first.
