I tried searching through this thread, but it getting quite long...

This is an excellent thread, btw!

I now have a WII 4.0E, which I have softmodded. I am using the USB loader without problems.

I want to upgrade to 4.2E and then apply this tutorial.

Can I just upgrade my WII, or do I have to "Virgin" it first?

I think I have mucked up some where along the first part (or I am just a bit thick and misunderstood it), because I have installed Bootmii and HBC but when I press the home button in the HBC, I do not get an option to select Bootmii. The only way I can get the bootmii is when I turn on the console on but that disapeers after I format my 8GB SDHC to do step 2. Any ideas where I have screwed up?

I downloaded the Hackpack and after I using winrar but theres only 2 folders.

Ok i can load a game from HD, but when I select the game in question, the screen goes black with all kinds of numbers and the message EXCEPTION (DSI) OCCURRED. I get a countdown to restart, some numbers change, and EXCEPTION (PROGRAM) OCCURRED. Then it counts down from 10, to restart, some numbers change, and the countdown again, and again and again. I have to unplug the wii to get it to start. I am very inexpirienced, so sorry if this is a dumb question, or if I'm missing something obvious. Thank you in advance for your help, anyone!

D5) You can now install ios202, ios222, ios223. From HBC, run cios222 installer and select ios249 to use. At the next screen, choose the following, one at each turn:
-ios202, for usb - using ios38
-ios222, for uloader - using ios38
-ios223 mainly for GH5 - using ios38 merged with 37
Mind that you will need an internet connection for this!! If you do not have an internet connection, see appendix. You can also insatll the ioses using any other combination you like, But those are recommended for now, until a games needs otherwise.


upon loading cios222 installer
i select iso 249
now i get 3 options

install custom iso 202 (homebrew)
install custom iso 222 (default)
install custom iso 223

now i select iso 202

cIOS installer (select ISO Base)
use iso 36 (default)
use iso 37 merged with iso 36
use iso 38 merged with iso 36
use iso 60 merged with iso 36

im confused your guide says use iso 38 am i then to
"use iso 38 merged with iso 36" (and do it like this for all the oter ones as well?)

(i also tryed to install some wads internett channel and some games but im getting "this channel can't be used." error but nvm its probably becaus im stuck at "D5")
