Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus!!!!

Great stuff!..the guide works EXCELLENT, however, I was only able to play my backup game once and while trying to load thru NeoGamma, it spits out "Disk Read Error (1249). What could be the cause of that?..

Id go for the Usb Hard drive route , That way its not hit or miss with the cds or having to change them , and it looks impressive when you show people your usb loader with all the games and covers

Your guide has helped me hack my wii so that I may now enjoy old school games and also play media files from usb jump drive.

I have one general question for everyone who has System Update 4.2u (or similar) on their wii: are you able to play DVD movies on your wii?

Because I tried to play a DVD movie which I recently bought, but I wasn't able to. =/

Because DVDx has changed its name no media player can recognize it, so no DVDs for now

maybe bad disk, use the recommended

anybody install the startpatch yet? I can't seem to get it to work, i keep getting the same error -1017

and is it safe to install the new hbc v1.0.6?

Thanks for the quick response Messie.

I was not able to get StartPatch v4.2.1U to work on my wii; I have the Homebrew Channel installed and I placed the StartPatch folder in the apps folder on my SD card but when the select the StartPatch channel, I get the following message...

ES_Identify (as SU) ...Error: -1017

Returning to Loader...

Has anyone else gotten this error when trying to use StartPatch v4.2.1U?

Thank You so much for the Guide. I was able to update 4.2u. I am a newbie, it took me 2 days to figure everyting out. The third download for "B" and the first dowload for "C" is what worked for me, Neogamma 7 works like a charm!

It seems that for the start patch you need a truch ios36. install with dop ios if you know how

Thank you kind sirs !! Although FW 4.2U disabled my wii's (hardmodded) ability to play games from other regions , I was able to bypass it by using your awesome guide , now I'm playing games thru my usb !

I assumed since I was able to play games via backup loader that I already had a cIOS and thus, had the trucha bug already?

yes you have an ios249 hacked with trucha and all things. you need a trucha enabled ios36 for startpatch. also make sure you are on 4.2u not e
