DVD Read Error:Bad burn use a better quality disc(Verbatim DVD-R) burn at 2x or 4x using imgburn.Could be a bad iso dump.
imho, this doesn't apply anymore because more and more people are getting this error while softmodding with the great mauifrog softmod-guide.
The guys with an USB-loader don't have any problem, but the ones without and/or stuck with DVD-R discs using NeoGamma are having alot of problems.
Things i came across while searching the various forums:

    - alot of guys have these problems after playing Skyward Sword
    - again, alot of guys HAVE these problems but before they had no problems at all (i.e. before mariokart worked perfectly, after recieving this code EVERY disk returns the same 1208/03023a00)
    - error-code 1208 seems to be excactly the same as the 03023a00 in the latest NeoGamma.
    - therefore... any "helpfull" forum-member stating they have to use the correct DVD's or so and so burning program get an annoyed answer. (because before every disc was fine and working)
    - in (almost) all cases it is about older wii's (yes the ones with the "good" dvd-readers)
    - and in all cases there is no solution to it!

Me personally also had a wii with excact same problems, everything worked before, softmodding went fine... but now every disc returns 03023a00.
because i feel sorry for the kid who owns the wii, i'm giving him a hdd which he can use for as long as he likes.

But still i'm too much of a guy to say i can't fix this, i WANT to fix it, also for future work.
So, does any of you guys have an idea??
(yes, syscheck is also posted, was 100% up2date)

    Peace

This is indeed an interesting problem. Have you tried to rip the backup using one of the usb loaders to see what happens?

    Yup cjizzle.

The same burnt dvd's work when applied with an USB loader...
Like said.. before every disc worked, so the fault is not with how they are burnt or false image or something similar..

i'm even considering of giving him my own Wii that works with burnt DVD's (older softmod actually) because his works with usb-loader,
and my kids only play with the USB loader and their 107 games...

Perhaps any more ideas? because i know this is becoming more and more of a problem reading here and on gbatemp. (on gbatemp they choose to simply ignore it imho.. )

    Thx

Could it not just be that the drive has started to fail?

    Could be Pob3008..

but since i see alot more users with the excact same error, and mostly after playing Skyward sword AND softmod...
    i don't know but i sounds a bit weird...
Doing the extended search on this subject as i did, you find a link to things that's not right...
I'll do more search on the prob-wii because i still have it here...

    Peace

It sounds like that's the reason but if u think about it logically, they are all old wiis and what are the few latest games people play on, coincidence? Or? If nsmb was the latest and one of the best games out then it would be people reporting it after playing that game the facts are people play the latest and best games in the present and playing back ups from your Wii drive takes its toll

I see where your going Pob, and i also think that both playing backups and/or retail discs perhaps tears the laser more, but imho the laser can't damage since there isn't any contact with the disc.
i'm a first electrical engineer on superyaghts and i don't think that the laser can damage...
Only thing is the bearing of the drive that can end his life, but then it wouldn't make a diffirence if your using backup discs or retail..
i suspect it's a software thing, but that is out of my reach...

    Peace
PS, thx for thinking with me here
