Easy way to get cIOS on ANY 3.0-4.1 Wii!
All credit for this goes to Wiipower from GBA, he's made an app that takes care of patching IOS so that you can run the cIOS installer.
This will work on any wii, 3.0-3.4, 4.0, 4.1, LU64+ & foreign equivalents
Since this was written the dreaded 4.2 has arrived and this guide won't work on it!
You need the HBC for this to work, so if your Wii is a total virgin then [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].
This will also enable Preloader to work on LU64+ models.
TAKE OUT ALL GAMECUBE MEMORY CARDS/CONTROLLERS
There's [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] you may want to have a look at too.
If you want a different cIOS to r14 have a look [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].
Format your SD card with [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] if you get any errors.
1: Copy files to SD card, all IOS go on the root, the 3 apps in the 'apps' folder. It should look like [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] when done.
2: Go to Homebrew channel and run Trucha Bug Restorer, load IOS36, press 1, read the warnings then select 'downgrade IOS15', select to load IOS from SD card then let it do its job.
3: Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, this time using d-pad left/right to change the IOS, load IOS15 on first screen, select the IOS36 menu & install patched (select 'yes' on all 3 patches) IOS36 to slot 36, again using IOS from SD card.
4: Run Trucha Bug Restorer again, load IOS36 and this time select restore IOS15.
5: Run cIOS38r14 installer select IOS36 as the one it should use and then select wad install.
Done! If you want a backup launcher and preloader then have a look at [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register].

mk - nothing else is needed, what errors areyou getting?
Dogeggs
I'm having trouble with install game using USB Loader GX on my 4.0u Wii.
I assumed that backup loader is a kind of USB loader.
so I jumped into installing USB Loader GX right after I got this on wii.
my problem starts here..
after I load USB Loader GX, It prompted to make WBFS partition by clicking "format", and I unlocked it using default key "ab121b"
then I tried to install games.
suddenly, screen goes to black, then appears exception error that seems like the attachment and freezed. the code on that image is not exactly mine because it's just an example of others. If you guys need original image of error code, I'll post it soon.
also tried to use WBFS manager3.0, but showed me an error message too.
I used WD 500GB for External HDD. formatted in NTFS, Default allocation unit size
questions begins here.. it's a lot.. sorry.. PLZ have patient.
what is my problem that prevent me from installing games?
do I miss something before using USB loader?
and I noticed from youtube that others have usb loader channel on their Wii, but I don't have one. does it matter?

Per the TBR readme, should I go ahead and install Bootmii as boot2 (pre LU64, 3.4u)?
I did my kids' new LU64 last night using the LU64 Update 4 guide, after reading for a couple weeks, and now my brother wants me to do LU30 today. Most of the reading I did was LU64-specific, and I purposely avoided reading non LU64 stuff so as not to confuse myself. Is installing Bootmii as boot2 "best practice" for non-LU64 systems, and thus why it would not be included in the instructions?
I'm fairly clear on the above steps, and see no downside installing bootmii as boot2 before starting this procedure, but wanted to make sure before I forge ahead. Thanks!

If you can install bootmii as boot 2 then you should do it and make a nand backup right away, it only works on older wiis ie from around middle of 08 an earlier, so i doubt your 3.4 will take it. The above process really shouldnt be too much of a concern though.

I'm getting the -2011 error now when trying to install patched IOS36 as IOS36 in TBR. Searching a bit, most posts regarding -2011 are regarding Wad managers needing TBR as a result of the 3.4u singing fix... but I'm using TBR when I get the error???
The TBR error states you "might need to use an IOS with the trucha bug... That's what the IOS15 downgrade is good for". Do I need to boot from IOS15 at the main Trucha screen after downgrading? I didn't think IOS15/16 were "bootable"
I have an LU30 with 3.4u with Bootmii installed as boot2. I'm loading from IOS36 at the initial Trucha screen, tried installing IOS36 both with a downgraded IOS15 and from a restored IOS15, with no luck.
Regarding IOS36 options, I have Install IOS to Slot = 36, Patch Hash Check = yes, Patch ES_Identify = yes, Patch nand Permissions = NO.
Am I doing it wrong. Any ideas?
