To install cIOS56 which I believe is a wad file-copy it to the Wad folder in the Root Directory of your SD card and use Wad Manager to install.
Not too many cIOSCORP fans here. cIOSCORP replaces all the core IOSes of the Wii; the softmod you just performed was done with minimal change to the Wii firmware. If you really can't live without playing games through disc channel, just get a hardmod or chipmod. They are safer than cIOSCORP.
If you disregard this advice, then please make sure your read all the readme file material that accompanies cIOSCORP as it it not for inexperienced modders-know what you are in for before jumping in.

Hi guys,
First let me say , thank you for taking the time and effort in writing this great guide. I have just bought my wii couple of weeks ago , and want to use your guide for softmodding it.
However after reading it, as well as the other FAQs and guides in here , I just have some questions before modding my wii , and I hope you can please help me solve them.
1) First of all, will these instructions also apply for a LU67 Wii as mine , with 3.4U firmware?
2) In 1.d , it says “Install Bootmii as boot2 if you can, if not then install it as an IOS then go back and install the Homebrew Channel.” Judging by my model , I will have to install it as IOS, right?
3) If 2 is true , should I do the NAND backup anyways? , in the guide it says its not recommended to restore it if having been installed as IOS, so in my case what would be the point in making it then?
4) In Step4 , As I have 3.4U , it means I have to upgrade. But I have to install IOS60 right? (step 5a) , but in the introduction of this , it tells “If you are on 4/4.1”, but I will be still on 3.4 , so that said , how do I install IOS60 if I have to?
5) Is the firmware updater safe to run? Is the update done from the Nintendo site or where is it coming from? I ask this because I saw in other forums , that some people had problems upon installing it (controllers not being recognized, usb loader not working, etc). So I was wondering if its completely safe to do it , or its just that its possible dangers outweight the possibility of being caught with not brick protection?
Well that would be all , thanks in advance for all your help regarding my questions,
Regards,

1) yes
2)yes
3)the NAND backup is made in the hopes that a future bootmii version would be able to use it; for now it represents a last ditch restore. Preloader becomes more important in Wiis that are blocked from installing bootmii as boot2
4) Step 4: install IOS60patched, THEN run FW 4.1 updater.
Continue tutorial at Step 5B
5)yes, not updated by a Nintendo server. For softmod turn WiiConnect24 OFF, Internet access for Wii is ON.
Without updating to 4.1, your 3.4 Wii will have no protection; can't install bootmii as boot2, can't use preloader hacks, can't use alternative hacks for Starfall or StartPatch. 3.4 has no inherent advantages such as those enjoyed by pre-3.3 Wiis; there is no benefit from remaining at 3.4 with a softmodded Wii. You can elect to forgo protection, you just need to know what your are doing and anyone elese who ever touches that Wii, too.

gen3 , thank you very much for all your answers, i will softmod my wii as soon as possible since things are clearer now.
As for Wii connect I havent even accepted the terms for it and the wii shop channel , in fear of updating my wii without realizing it, but I have already setup my internet connection. Do I have to accept those terms and then turn those thing off , or can I proceed without even touching them?
By the way , in order to test the reliability of my internet connection , what channels are safe for me to surf right now without running the risk of updating something. I just want to test connection speed , etc, before doing the update thing on the guide.
Thanks in advance for everything once again,
Regards,

Using your Internet connection will be fine. The Nintendo update that you are avoiding comes through the WiiConnect24 connection. You do not have to activate and then shut off to perform the update-you can leave as is if you want.
If you have problems with your Internet connection, you can still proceed with the softmod-we would just have to do the 4.1 update offline, so no worries there.
just make sure to read the tutorial closely and carefully, some lines have a lot of detail that can be missed. If, after reading the tutorial a few times something is not clear, post your question. Better to wait for the answer than to charge ahead into a problem. Good luck.

i used the shop channel update in this tutorial and its still trying to get me to update my system
the update that was in the rar file was v17
is there a newer wad out with like a v18 or v19
shop channel isnt a big deal to me but id like to be able to purchase anything that might become tempting in the future , only thing i think i would like to purchase atm is majoras mask because its one of my all time favs
This step is optional unless you are on 3.3 or 3.4, you may upgrade now if you wish, boot2 v4 owners cannot downgrade! but can upgrade if you want. If you want to update to 4.1 then make sure you have at least 250 blocks free or you will brick, install IOS60-patched first (step 5a), then run Firmware Updater 4.1. If you are on 3.3 or 3.4 then you must update.
Just update my friends Wii, he is on 3.4u. Running fine. Should we update it according to this? I am scared of anything ISO60. Thanks
