well if you run the downgrader your are no longer on 4.0 update . If you can run homebrew to downgearde you wouldn't need to use the recovery disc ?
trucha signed discs still work fine in 4.0 if you installed the patched IOS60 and ran IOS Downgrader.

Your still on 4.0 even if you run IOS Downgrader. And I'm just saying if he had ran the Patched IOS60 and ran IOS Downgrader then he would have been able to boot the UUD disc on 4.0. Thats how I got it to boot. I had done those steps before the bricking took place. So for people on 4.0 if you had taken those steps (witch you SHOULD have) and end up bricking your Wii then the UUD disc will work.
This guide was originally writen for people who bricked on v3.4 I added the 4.0 Note only after I tested out on a bricked 4.0 and there is no guarentee that it will work for everyone weather your on 3.4 or 4.0.
This guide has helped unbrick a ton of people but just as many it has failed. Nothing is 100% except death!
ok....just trying to clarify....by the way . I had posted earlier , think page 2 of this thread about receiving a new motherboard for my bricked wii about using the recovery disc . Would it be a good idea to run it to wipe the memory with the restore disc ?
I have a WiiKey2 installed and after doing much research I used this set of instructions [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] to install Homebrew for loading games from a USB hard drive. These instructions use CMDVDX34 from 4.0NoCIOSfix.rar to run the IOS downgrade. I am hoping to be able to uninstall the bad forwarder wad. As a last resort, is it just the Wii DVD Drive Motherboard required to be replaced: picture of one here [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

no it's not the dvd drive board , Its the main motherboard that has the nand memory on it and there is no motherboard replacement for that unfortunately . You would have to buy a new wii or get a motherboard out of a used working wii . Looked and looked . If you can find someone sellind replacement motherboards post the link . Good luck !!!
Ok, if I get a new Wiii I will again perform the Homebrew upgrade so I can load games from the hard drive. Do you have any suggestions I should follow before using these instructions [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]. Should I run the the Patched IOS60 first before following the instructions again and is the IOS downgrade in Step-3 in the instructions a sufficient downgrade?
Heres what I would do for what you want to do . I suggest using flatmii . Heres the link [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register] and skip the homebrew . cause thats what I'm doing , have too much money invested to this point to go trashing another one .
I would say this is the best guide out right now. [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]Originally Posted by GiiMan [Only Registered Members May View Links| Click here to register]

I don't know what's wrong, I can't get the little version thingy, and i'm not sure why. First I ran the preloader, then i got bricked at the preloader systemmenu. I'm REALLY not sure what to do, any suggestions? (Ver. 4.0U ) Btw.
