SD/USB Loaders GUIDE--how to use Waninkoko's USB Loader
[ Requirements ]
Wii that can Run Homebrew (sys menu 3.0+)
USB-Loader_v1.zip (or [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register])
cIOS36_rev9-Installer.zip or greater r14 recommended.
IOS36-64-v1042.wad* or IOS38-64-v3610.wad
USB Mass Storage Device**
* = This is for offline installation of the cIOS
** = This could be a keychain or Hard Drive. Note that not all devices are supported.
[ Environment ]
Nintendo Wii v4.0U
v4.0U via Waninkoko's Update
Wabasi Zero (Modchip)
Homebrew Channel v0.9
Windows XP Computer
SanDisk Titanium 8GB USB Keychain
[ Preparation ]
In a nutshell you're going to have to first install the cIOS using an on-line or offline connection then run the USB Loader and have it prepare your USB Device by formatting it. After it's formatted you can start to add you legal backup collection to it.
Unzip/Extract the contents of the two ZIP files into separate folders. Go into each folder and locate the .dol file and rename it to "boot.dol". If you're running an "offline" installation of the cIOS you must place "IOS36-64-v1042.wad" in the "cIOS36_rev9-Installer" folder.
Copy both folders onto your SD card and insert it into the Wii. Turn on your Wii and Launch the Homebrew Channel.
Locate and launch the cIOS36_rev9-Installer. Press "A" to agree to the Disclaimer.
Next select either a "WAD Installation" or "Network Installation". Wait for it to install.
Once installed press any key to reset the Nintendo Wii.
[ Usage ]
Now, plug in your USB Device and launch the USB-Loader_v1. If your USB Device isn't supported you will get the message in the picture above.
If your USB Device is supported you will get a screen prompting you to format the device in the new WBFS format.
Next select the partition you wish to format. Press "A" to continue.
Now you will be presented with the games list and the amount of space used and the free space present. Now you can insert an original game to dump to your USB device. Insert a game and press "+". Note, if you're using backups I believe your Wii must have a modchip installed.
Once you press "+" you will be prompted again if you wish to install the game.
Now wait a while ...
Your game is now installed and ready to play. Just repeat the same steps to add more games. The rest of the GUI should be self explanatory.
okay, so updating to 4.0U is good since u could play games via SD huh? i mean yeah the purpose we need firmware is to play backup games in legal way right?
One thing I'll like to point out is in the first post it says you need a modchip and if you are using backups discs to save to your HDD then you also need a modchip.
This is not the case, I have installed usb loader 1.5 and backed up many games to my HDD and they load perfect with no chip installed. This goes for both ntsc and pal games, 90% of my games on my HDD came from dvd-r discs.
Got to say I think this is one of the best things ever for the wii. Having all your games on one HDD and no more noise coming from the disc drive in the wii.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? All of my ISO's work when played from a DVD(ImgBurn+DVD-R). Only Deadly Creatures, Guitar Hero Metallica and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy work when loaded with the USB Loader 1.5 or any USB loader for that matter. They are all loaded from backups or transferred using WBFS Manager.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.
