gen3sf : I downloaded the optional package from softmod thread to install usbloader gx but that had tons of files and folders (not just single wad file). There were also some IOS which did not look familiar. As any other noob, I got scared to install any of them. Maybe you can help out again and post the instructions ?
While NeoGamma can load games from USB, it cannot rip your discs to USB. You now have a softmodded Wii with the ability to play backup discs or from USB.
With HBC installed you can and have installed apps and wads. You now have the time to both enjoy your Wii and to explore further the other loaders, apps, and utilities available for the Wii. It is now expected that you can continue learning from the loader Web sites, the other tutorials available on this site, and other threads and posts. Have a good time.

I agree adding the hbc is only the start. There are so many cool things to add and explore. Always stick to the guides and you will safe.
I remember when I first started modding wii's which was not that long ago. Now I can make my own themes, wad's, channels and much much more.

thanks for all the help and support.
I installed usb loader gx but it was dumping core after downloading cover art. Without cover art it looked bland. So I went with configuration usb loader and it downloaded cover art without issue.
Edit: one more question. I see the option to 'install game'. What does that mean ? Does it mean copying the game to WII NAND ? I don't think the wii would have enough space for that. Secondly I see in several you tube vidoes that there are channels for seperate games. What good is a channel if you have to load the appropriate disk before you play it.

I am glad you chose config usb loader, in my opinion it is the best usb loader there is. If your into themes you can get themes for it here: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]
Just put them in theme folder

Glad you found something that works for you. The install option is to rip a game disc to the HDD. Both original and backup game discs can be used by the USB loaders to copy the game from disc to HDD. All the USB loaders have this capability; something that NeoGamma does not.

You installed IOSes not a cIOS. cIOS38rev14 installs in the IOS249 slot which is why sometimes it is referred to as IOS249rev14. While an IOS is installed as a Wad file and can be downloaded from the Nintendo Servers. A cIOS or customized IOS usually has its own installer that is access through HBC.
Here is cIOS38rev14:[Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]. Extract the rar file, copy the folder to the Apps folder on your SD card and access the installer through HBC.

is this the same for 4.2? i have the hbc installed on my wii with 4.2 update. nothing works when i try and open it, just black screen, or music and freezes. is there a clone of a sd somewhere i can just download and everything works?
Does anyone know if there is a USB Loader-like application to use for the non-WBFS partition to allow one to browse their movies using a similar GUI with the ability to download and scroll through movie cover art? An app just like many of the USB loaders but for movies?
Sorry to hi jack but I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with these loaders. For some reason I can't rip my originals at anything greater than .1Mbps. This is true for both loader 1.5 and loader gx. Not sure if I've done something wrong but I can't find anything anywhere about slow rip speeds.
