I haven't tested it too much, but it's generally accepted that moving or copying the .DVV files will force you to reverify.

Yup, this is why in my partition-copying guide I suggest deleting everything except the DVV files so that you can make the partition backup as small as possible (257MB).

Try maxternal's sample loader mod, it works just like the normal sample loader but adds some extra functionality such as being able to access games from the same path that typical USB Loaders use (for reference this is the folder arrangement that DIOS MIOS uses).

You can find a download for it via the first link in my signature.

Hello, I just followed the guide to mod vWii on Wii U and everything worked perfectly fine. Thanks for that! Also, the same hard drive I used in my Wii works on the Wii U, even though it's not externally powered. Thought you guys should know that, since the guide says that shouldn't work.

However, my issue is now with Devolution. It works just fine on the Wii U, the only problem is that I can't get emulated memory cards to work. Obviously this is an issue, since the Wii U doesn't have Gamecube memory card slots. I am using CFG USB Loader, which is my preferred loader, and it's the version that is currently linked in the original post in this thread. I have enabled NMM and when loading the game, it says "emu memory card enabled" however I get the message "no memory card inserted" when playing any of the games. I haven't tried other loaders, so I will try that while I wait for a reply and update this post with the results. Thanks in advance!

    EDIT:
So they do work fine in USB Loader GX. I may just stick with this loader from now on, I do like the interface a bit better. The only issue is that the first time I tried to load a game from it today it sort of softlocked, as in, after I clicked start on the game, nothing happened, and I could press other buttons and they would make sound, but nothing would happen, I had to actually unplug the Wii U to get out of it.

CFG Loader is buggy and should not be used with emulated memory cards, since it can't be trusted to tell Devolution the correct place to read/write the memory card on the SD/USB leading to data corruption.

    Hi guys,

It's been a while. I used the guide here last year, took a considerable amount of time until I found out I could just use Configurable USB Loader which I already had installed! I used it to rip all my GC games and then verify them using the discs, all games work okay. I recently bought 007 Everything or Nothing for Gamecube and proceeded to use CFG Loader to rip the game and then download the cover. All worked okay without any problems. I then wanted to start it up so I could verify it, and chose to start the game from CGF Loader. I got the following message, which I usually get when a game is loading up:

    Booting game, please wait....

path-usb:/games/007_ EVERYTHING OR NOTHING [GENE69]/game.iso, iso found !!
    emu. memcard is disabled

And then nothing happens. It just stays on this screen. I tried some of my other Gamecube games and they're all fine. Are there any specific game issues? Perhaps this is one of them. I'd like to start this game soon and would prefer to play via HDD if possible.

    Thanks.

So, try turning of Memory Card Emulation and see if that does any good.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

Thanks for responding. I'm not sure I have this on anyway, as I have a GC memory card in my Wii anyway. Where can I find this setting?

Actually, you're right, you don't. I didn't notice that part before. So next thing.

Have you tried one of the other loaders? It's likely an issue with CFG, try using the basic loader. Just put the game in question in USB/games before trying.

I figured out what the problem is! I haven't done this in a while, so I forgot. Basically, for some reason after I rip my GC games, the Devolution setting for the rip is 'off' by default. I remember now that I had to go into each game's setting separately and turn it on. I just did this for Everything or Nothing and it's worked! CFG, my old friend, you have not let me down.

    Thanks ^_^

P.S. Looking forward to the idiots' guide to playing GC games on Wii U...soon, hopefully!

I don't have any ETA on it yet as I haven't modded my Wii U's vWii, but I hope to be able to do it soon.

Since someone keeps undoing my edit to the compatibility list, I'll post this here.

    Game: Mega Man X Collection
    Game ID: GXGE08
    Region: NTSC-U
    Status: Working
    Devolution Version Tested: r200
Notes: When using component cables on an old Wii the screen will black out after entering a game. With standard AV cables it works perfect.
