Though obviously if the downloaded ISO is an actual clean rip then it'd work fine.

That comment really doesn't help when you can download a "clean" rip of a game that matches the region of your disc, only to find it doesn't work because it's a different revision.

    anyone awake?
im ripping a game right now to test this all again, also while reading the instructions again it says make sure a usb stick is in port0, well if the bot is 0 then the top is usb1? if thats the case then i had my usb stick in usb0 this whole time. so once this is done ripping im gonna plug it in the top one and try again.

Like I said, laying down = bottom port, standing up looking from behind = right hand port.

    Post back the results.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

Neither Cleanrip nor Devolution care about which port is used.

ok ripped the game, it was gswE64 not the gswD64 that i dll. loaded it with basic loader and it booted up fine. but usbloader still doesnt read anything. am i supposed to click on 'install' game in the main menu? i have the path correctly set to usb/games/gswe64/gswe64.iso the usbloader main menu on the bottom still shows 0 games.

No, install game would just install the game from the disc, not make it magically appear in the loader. Since it works in the basic loader but not GX my guess is your custom path or file name is not correct. Make sure you check the custom path setting to make sure it's on the correct folder. It should be on USB1/games going off what you described as the ISOs location.

Not to question you because, after all, you did make Devolution and obviously no better than anyone how it works, but is there some prerequisite to having both ports work? Such as using a different d2x cIOS? Cause last I tried nothing reads my USB drives from the upper port. I'm on d2x v8 final. Just curious.

The prerequisite is not using the crappy cios. Apps that use official IOSes can use both ports, hubs, and have much better device compatibility.

Most games only have a single revision, even for several first-party games (see: US Luigi's Mansion). And for those that have multiple revisions it's moderately common to make all the revisions available for download.

Anyway, tueidj, I must ask - what is the official policy on trying to use Dolphin to "work around" Devolution's anti-piracy protection? I've been pondering such an idea for a while now (in the name of science of course), but I've never put it into action...
