It's supposed to be USB:\\games\whatever.iso not gamecube. Also by default the non-sample USB loaders also use USB:\\games\GAMEID\game.iso rather than USB:\\gamecube

SNES_Master later admitted to having a derp moment when he said USB:\\gamecube

Yes. For the basic loader it should be USB/games/game.iso. Naming the folder GameCube is, as far as I can tell, only accepted by USB Loader GX. It is also my personal preference. I believe this is all stated in the guide.

The part about BootMii showing every time you turn the Wii on suggested you still have the BootMii files on the sd card, they should be stored safely on a PC/HDD/DVD/whatever else, that will stop BootMii from loading on each boot up.

I personally have said files on an old 256MB SD card and recommend something similar. I mean, with several gigabytes of storage capacity on modern SD cards that cost in the single-digits of dollars, a less-than-1GB SD card isn't all that practical, so you might as well give it a use by being able to boot bootmii with it.

This is of course assuming you have an old unused SD card laying around.

My BootMii files are safely burned to a DVD which is kept in a case. In addition it is backed up on 2 external HDDs and my PCs desktop too....yeah, I'm paranoid lol.

If I spelled something wrong, I'll just blame it on auto-correct

ok i changed the path on the usb stick

    USB/
    GAMES/
    GAMEID/game.iso
    game.iso

i made it like that so hopefully the usbloader can read the gamesid folder and the basic loader can read the iso file right from the games folder. brb....

EDIT--- ok i can get the basic loader to see my game when i load it and the screen goes black and the wii lights blink every few seconds but nothing after that. the usbloader still doesnt recognize anything and even when i go into the CUSTOM PATH settings under maingamecubepath i have it as usb1:/games.

Let us know. Once again, just to clarify (and using an example with Wind Waker NTSC):

    Basic Loader Path is:
USB/games/game.iso Game.iso can be name how ever you want (like Zelda.iso, Mario.iso, Nintendo.iso Etc etc).

USB Loader GX can see the ISOs from several different paths using the custom path settings, the one I use and have written the guide to use is: USB GX PATH:
    USB/GameCube/GZLE01/GZLE01.ISO

The above example uses Zelda Wind Waker NTSC, hence the GameID of GZLE01.

You are inserting your retail discs to verify the iso....right? Cause I clearly said in the guide you had to do so for the 1 time verification process.

what if on the gametbd website that has the games ID's, their is more than one ID listed? could that make a difference because starwars:rogueleader2 had a few IDs... also i DID have the folder named 'gamecube' when i tried to view it under usbloader and it didnt read it. when i renamed it 'games' the basic loader could read it but the game still didnt start.

The multiple gameids are probably 1 from each different region. There is a formula to the IDs but I can't remember exactly how it goes...if you look at the disc though you'll be able to see your games ID and match it to the correct on on GameTDB. As for the games not loading I repeat the following quote:

I'll try to post a image or something of how my games and USB Loader GX settings are setup tomorrow. Perhaps that might prove helpful in getting it working for you.
