Uncompressed, whether clean or un-clean were the exact same size.

Compressed however, resulted in DIFFERENT sizes when using a clean ISO vs an un-clean ISO.

We weren't speaking of compressed. Think of compressed like say on the Wii where the update partition, IOS, and other unnecessary things are removed. Not quite the same, but that idea. Or think of recompressing bink video. You are fundamentally altering an image.

I would refer you to SNES' statement here.

And as a snippet of DiscEx:

DiscEX extracts the files of a game partition from
a Wii disc into the structure used by SNEEK's DI module.

It's also a format or disc image.

Simply run DiscEX with the Wii disc name as an argument:

    DiscEX AwesomeGame.iso

DiscEX automatically picks the game partition and extracts
    it to the current folder.

Well I'm talking about DiscEX with the -c command argument. :P

EDIT: while we're on the subject, is there anyway to UNDO the DiscEX formatting and/or compression and return a disc to a clean ISO? Or do I have to use some external patch like BPS?

EDIT 2: If anyone cares, Nintendo Puzzle Collection works perfectly fine in Devolution when compressed with DiscEX, Wiimms ISO Tools, or DMToolbox set to "Auto" - assuming the original uncompressed ISO was an actual clean rip.

Apologies for double-posting, but as heads up, over the next several days I'll be updating to the compatibility wiki to add notes about games that work with DiscEX/DMToolbox and/or Wiimms ISO Tools.

Here are the games I've found to work so far:

    2013-10-01 EDIT: Updated list here:

I've also added notes to the Compatibility Wiki for the games that work with ISO compression.

It's been about 24hrs, I think you're safe lol. 24hrs and later you may make a second, consecutive, post if you wish.

I think you're off by an hour or less lol. But I must say, I'm pleased to see Four Sword Adventures goes all the way down below 300mb. That's fantastic! I was finally able to find a copy complete with the GBA cable (which sadly I don't think works with Devo).

Oh, uh, I have THREE GBA cables and two working GBAs + a GCN w/ GB Player and a possibly close-enough TV. I could have tested GBA connectivity a while ago.

(if you care, I got one cable with FSA, got another with Nintendo Puzzle Collection, and then bought a third one seperately so that we could have a better dpad for NPC before Devolution even existed - I have a 3rd GBA with a broken screen but as purely a controller it works)

I have just 1 GBA>GC cable, and still have my old GBA SP and GC somewhere. But unless something has changed since the Devolution release post (on its homepage) it says GBA connection isn't supported yet...perhaps I should try it and see just incase that feature was added by now.

Uh, where does it say Devolution does not support the GBA link cable?
