I thought I had it correctly "pathed", but I guess I didn't. However, I have another problem, I launch a GC game and the screen stays black.

Is your disc drive blinking? If so insert the disc for the game you're trying to load.

Oh it needs the disk to load? What is the point of backing up to the drive then?

As stated in the guide, you only need the disc the first time you load the game so Devolution knows you actually own the game. After that the game loads without the disc (unless you tamper with or delete the corresponding .dvv file).

Oh. I'm not very good at reading things carefully sometimes :P Problem is my disk reader is broken as I stated in the HDD FAT32 guide. Is there anyway to generate a .dvv on a computer to put on the HDD if a disk reader is broken?

Unfortunately no, but depending on how bad your disc drive is you may be able to still verify the games. It doesn't need to read the full disc to verify and I can tell you from experience that when my disc drive was dying I was still able to verify some games. Though you may have to try a few times before it actually takes.

Nevermind I had the loader sorting by play count so they were moved

Edit: So I popped in my game when the black screen came up and after it read I guess it ejected it. The screen stayed black and nothing happened, but the Wii went back to flashing. Is that normal?

For a Wii with a dying drive, yes. Try wiping the disc with a cleaning cloth (even if you think it's clean) and try again. That always seemed to help me.

Do you suggest I just buy a busted Wii from craigslist or ebay and replace my disk drive with that one's. This has become a 3 day project so far just to play LoZ Wind Waker again :/ Also if I turn why Wii off I assume Devolution will add a .dvv saying my game is pirated, correct? So I would need to delete that, right?

No, if you turn of your Wii without the game verifying it just creates a blank dvv. You can delete it but you don't really need to, it will just overwrite it the next time you load the game by asking you to re-verify it (since this time didn't take). As for ordering a busted Wii I would look a little more into it. There's places online you can order just a replacement drive.

Just make sure you look up and read/watch plenty of guides on how to replace the drive, also look up info on your own Wii to be sure you get the right drive. You can look that up here
