For anyone curious about how the new r200 allows transfer of the dvv files for use on another system I have a hypothesis. It may or may not be wrong but it seems plausible to me so here it is:

Ok, the DVV files are indeed still stored on the HDD. Anyone can check this by looking in the USB/apps/gc_devo folder after verifying a game. If you deleted a dvv it will come back when you reverify or if you didn't delete it then it will change the "modified on" date. So my thought is this, previously the DVVs were tied to the USB device, system and the disc/ISO in order to ensure that the games were played on a 1 system setup. I believe now, and I could be wrong, that in addition to using info taken from the system, usb drive and disc/ISO that it also now using info from the WiiMote too (we know it's doing something with the WiiMote).

We know from the read me file that the verification transfer process requires connection of a WiiMote to both the old and new Wii/Wii U. But not only that, you must also use the same USB drive that you verified the disc on. So I'm assuming that upon loading Devolution on a Wii U it will ask for the game disc again due to being loaded on a new system (who's info is not stored in the dvv) but once it sees the original WiiMote used to verify it realizes the disc is verified. At this point it MAY update the dvv so you won't need to do this every time you use Devolution on your new Wii/Wii U, possibly allowing use of the games between both, the old Wii and the new Wii/Wii U system (essentially keeping a list of sorts of how many and what systems are permitted to play your GC backups) as long as the original USB drive is plugged in and the same WiiMote is synced (can't confirm this yet).

Anyway, that's just my theory. It may be wrong, maybe I even worded it badly, but it seems possible.

I agree, it is probably storind the wiimotes ID in the dvv file now. Originally I was thinking it was writing some info to the memory of the wiimote but it is more likely all the info is in the dvv file.

Just a minor heads up, it's theorized that the 3-inch disc expander doesn't work for verification on a Wii U due to AHBPROT issues, not because of an actual drive incompatibility.

Yeah, I was expecting that. But either way you can still work around it. If you have a friend with a modded Wii just barrow it to verify your games for use on the WiiU/Family Wii.

I thought that as well but the more I think of it the more it seems likely it's just using some info from the WiiMote (perhaps a serial number or some type of config or key file) to store in each dvv file.

I followed the guide yet when I run devolution.
It tells me to press x to mount the drive.
I press x my usb drive is in the wii.
    IT then says
    Disc ID: 000000000
    and pres start to exit.

    I'm using a 14gb sandisk cruzer.
Also a 4gb sandisk sd card.

Also Usb loader GX states I need a ios.
    What went wrong?

    Which controller are you using

Also, run a post a SysCheck. USB Loader GX should not be saying you need an extra IOS.

I would presume devolution uses the GC controller?

Thanks for the help snes master.

But is it possible to run backups of both Wii and Gamecube on the same hard drive, ie not having to store wii games on the hard rive and not having to store gamecube games on the sd card.

Devolution can now use Classic Controllers, Wii U Pro Controllers and PS3 controllers as well

But if your using a GC controller X should definitely mount the HDD. What format is your HDD? It should be fat32 with 32kb clusters.

Yes, you can have and load your Wii games AND GameCube games from a single hard drive

I did exactly that with the partition and everything.
I tried both USB slots as well.
Maybe I'm going about this wrong.

Ok at first I tried this by using usbloaderGX
It said I need a new ios.

So I exited and went to the devolution program
I ran that I got the error.
    I tried switching usb ports
    Same error.
Maybe it needs a GC disc to start
    Tried that same error.

I think I need a loader then run the devolution program?

Should I use a different loader?
