Other than needing a WiiCube though

Yes, Devolution is fully compatible with Wii U now, but only if your Wii U's vWii is soft modded...and you still need a functional GC compatible Wii to verify your games.

And yes, you can use a Wii U ProCon on the old Wii with Devolution, I spent a good 20-40 minutes using it on Wind Waker and it worked flawlessly. It's not as uncomfortable as it looks, believe me.
Well i do and im glad i got my GC games running thanks to you guys
That controller still looks a bit painful too me i mean both joysticks are up there im sure the left one is ok but the one on the right side of the controller... Doesnt seem right to me, they should've kept xbox style (which they stole from nintendo gamecube thank you very much) the only thing the 360 did was add a couple of extra buttons.
Hmm is it worth people using older devolution to update to the latest? or it wouldnt really matter? I honestly cant wait to get a wiiu myself but to be able to play gamecube games on that too would be pretty sweet

You can use classic controllers and/or a PS3 pad if you want... and technically you could probably even use a GameCube to Classic Controller adapter if you really wanted to. You can also reboot the system via the power button on the wiimote.

Also r200 has modified the verification files, so you're required to reverify any and all GC games.

Other than that, r200 seems to be virtually identical to r197.

Unless you have a Wii that can't accept GC memory cards or controllers then I'd say there is not point for you to update. Unless you want to try other controllers of course, that's what this update was mainly about, giving alternative methods of control so those with non GC Wii's or Wii U's can enjoy the underrated glory of the GameCube.

If you do update to r200 be aware you'll have reverify your games. This is because of a change made to the verification method which now appears to use not only data from the system, disc and ISO but now data from the WiiMote as well.

So I downloaded your basic loader to give this a try, I was using USB Loader GX according to the guide. I renamed the Gamecube folder to games, but when I launch the basic loader from the HBC it does not see my games. I changed my USB Loader GX custom path to point to the games folder and it works still using the older loader.bin devolution from when I followed the guide just like it did when the folder was named Gamecube. Is there anything different I have to do to get the basic loader to work besides changing the folder name?

For the basic loader make sure you put the games in /games/game.iso format. For example, USB/games/Super Mario Sunshine.iso. So you have to copy the actual ISOs into the games folder. Rather than having the games set as I specified in the USB Loader GX spoiler (which is as USB/GameCube/GameID/Game.iso) they must be in a different folder setup for the basic loader to see them.

The basic loaders requirements for ISO location and such are a bit different from the 3 full usb loaders.

So the basic loader doesn't like the Isos in sub folders than, I will give that a try then.

Will doing this screw up USB loader gx? It will probably at least screw up my verification files right?

for multi disc games it says to name the second disc disc2.iso, does this mean the basic loader will only allow on multi disc game since the Isos have to all be in the same folder?

Nope, no sub folders for the basic loader. It won't screw up GX, but it will overwrite your verification files. I haven't tried yet, but going back to an older revision MAY allow use of the dvv verification files from r200 (don't hold me to that, I can't say for sure).

For Multi disc games that is correct, disc 2 must be called disc2.iso. As for whether or not the basic loader can have more than 1 Multi disc iso due to the "disc2.iso" name requirement, I can't say...I only have ever had 1 Multi disc game so I'm not sure sorry. I would assume so though.

    No point in updating then

Some games just work better with an actual good dpad (Nintendo Puzzle Collection comes to mind). Other than that there's no point to update for normal Wii owners.
