    I have read that too from the topic that was linked in the Devolution thread. Basically, just because something works doesn't mean it works well. :P I myself was under the impression that, even before he had made such a comment, that it worked but was buggy. Considering he hasn't uploaded another video of him actually PLAYING a game on the Wii (rather than just sitting at the title screen), it's my guess that it still has major functionality issues - perhaps it requires a convoluted process just to connect the controllers currently?

    Some people have also speculated that he may be "holding back" until he can implement some sort of working anti-piracy method on the Wii U, but I personally think that's silly since we could at least enjoy the extra controller functionality on a normal Wii right now without any other changes - it's not like it'd break Wii U compatibility when it's not usable right now anyway.

    Ah, ok. That makes sense, no point in releasing it if whatever allows different controllers to communicate with the system isn't up to snuff yet, it would be horribly annoying to have controller lag lol.

    All I know is I can't wait to be able to play GameCube on my Wii U with that Xbox style "Pro" controller...hell, even the Classic Controller for the old Wii would be nice. Not that I have anything against the GC controller but it's like I said, I'd like to retire my old Wii to a box under my bed or something and put the Wii U in it's place

    Well, if you've just my latest posts on GBATemp, you'd know that I'm extremely interested in using something with an actual good D-pad for Nintendo Puzzle Collection - heck it's the entire reason I finally got myself a copy of it (in anticipation of Devolution's extra controller support).

    Yeah, some GC games would be a bit more enjoyable with a different controller. I think Wind Waker with the Wii U Pro will be much better

    I'm also working on a update to the guide right now. I will be providing up to date versions for all the loaders and, possibly, updating Devolution to r188. I want to read back in the home thread a little more first cause I do recall some people having hard drive issues with r188. I will also see about adding a link to the compatibly list as well (asking the mods first).

    What IOS hacks are required for Devolution to run? While USB Loader works with my Wii games just fine, I am unable to load any GameCube games - when I push A, it immediately goes black and reboots to the HBC, no blue flashing slot or anything. I tried putting the MD5 verified ISO on my SD card to rule out a bad hard drive, still no dice. Finally, I tried to run SysCheck but it crashes - so something must be up with my Wii itself - here is what was logged before the crash:
    =========================
    sysCheck v1.6.2 by Erik Spyder

    Region: NTSC-U
    The system menu v481 is running under IOS61 (rev 5662)
    Hollywood v0x11
    Console ID: 67513928
    Boot2 v2
    Found 104 titles
    Found 29 IOS on this console
    Found 8 IOS Stubs on this console
    =========================
    So I'm guess I have an old IOS that needs to be updated or missing an IOS completely - what is needed to Devolution to run? Thanks!

    Devolution needs absolutely NO IOS hacks, but I think it does require IOS58 - at least this is for the sample loader.

    Also note that Devolution does not work with modchips.

    Speaking of the sample loader, you should try using that first since, like I said, it does not require installing anything at all. Just put it in the Apps folder on your USB drive/SD card and put your GameCube ISOs in "games" on the root of your USB/SD card, and you're good to go.

    It's hard for me to say without seeing a full system check as what you've posted doesn't tell much...I would start with Nintendo Maniac 64s advice and we'll go from there.

    Ps: I will be updating the attachments very soon (tonight maybe). Devolution will be updated from r169 to 188 and USB GX from 1209 to 1211 (the other loaders I will check out as well but I think they can update via the Loader)

    Yes, I am only softmodded, and I was using the sample loader first - I thought similarly that if I can get the sample working, I can get it working in USB Loader GX. I think you both hit it on the head, I do ~NOT~ have IOS 58 installed - CleanRip complained about ripping slow, but it worked fine. I guess I'll install it via this:

    You may also consider using our Softmod ANY Wii Guide (link in sig) to make sure your Softmod is good as you should have the HBC also running on IOS-58. Just a suggestion, it's up to you if you do this or not, either way let us know if it works out for you

    And like magic, installing IOS58 did the trick - my GameCube game played perfectly. I did not reinstall HBC, so it is still running on IOS61 - I wasn't sure of the advantages of switching. For giggles, I tried duplicating this on the vWii - it seemed to get stuck at the verification process as the disc drive was acting wacky - oh well, not that I could control it anyway, heh. Thanks for the direction, easy peasy!
    PS: Maybe you could update your tutorial to mention this needs IOS58?
