Hey so I am using the usb loader gx, i have done all the requirements for how to get the gc rom ready to load, switch the devolution on, the path for both the gc path and the devolution loader path. I can find my gc backups Paper mario and Zelda: the twilight princess but when i click start to try and verify the game or just begin it the screen goes black and then sends me back to the homebrew channel. Has this happened to you and if so how should i approach this?

Sounds like A) a bad rip or B) your USB device is not compatible/not formatted right. Try either re-ripping the game or trying another USB device.

The thing about your USB GX, what you just described sounds like you might have an outdated forwarder, I'll provide a link to the latest one when I get a chance. Or if you want to find it yourself (might be faster) just look on google for UNEO FORWARDER 5.1, I'm sure you can find it pretty quick.

Regarding the syscheck, compared to mine (and a lot of other syschecks I've seen) you appear to be missing a couple d2x cIOSs but let's try simply getting that forwarder up to date before doing anything IOS wise as it may be unnecessary.

Edit: Though you have a couple Hermes showing as v55.1 which is a bit odd. They shouldn't be higher than v6...perhaps that's an error with syscheck and it means to say 5.1....

Another edit: here is the forwarder you need; USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad - usbloader-gui - USB Loader GX - UNEO Forwarder Channel V5.1 - USB Loader GX: GUI for Waninkoko´s USB Loader (based on libwiigui) - Google Project Hosting
Thanks again for you help, I seem to have everything working OK now. And the usb forwarder worked great. I didn't realize I needed to hit install inside of usb gx to install the game and its tile (whoops). Now it shows up, and uses devolution to run so all is well! Thanks again

    Remote compatibility?

I read in tueidj's Devolution page that one can use alternatives to the gamecube controller and that you can use your wii remote power button to return to your wii menu or HBC. When I run my GC games my wii mote turns off and doesn't do anything if I try and push the power button or home button to return home. Any thoughts to why this is? Thanks =)

I think at this time, only GameCube controllers can be used. The Devo Dev wants to implement Classic Controller / Wii Remote play, but isn't yet ready for public consumption.

He is working on adding support for classic controllers to play GameCube games. When it says press the power button to return to HBC, it's the button on the console, not the controller.

Ah, I see! That certainly clears things up a bit. It will definitely be nice when he gets that up and running so you don't have to get off the couch to push the power button =P haha. Ah well, I'm still very glad I get to play GC games regardless. Thanks again for all of your help, and even more-so for this great guide! =)

Where exactly can I get the loader.bin file? In the guide it says in "The attachment" but which attachment is it in?

I don't know myself since I'm essentually just a "Devolution consultant", but you can find the loader.bin in the "source" download in the "Devolution Public Release" thread on GBATemp (google it). Note that, regardless of the version stated, the download links in the first post of said GBATemp thread always link to the newest version (newest is r188).
