Ok. I followed the guide and got everything working (USB loader GX). Thank you!

    Here are some random thoughts/question:

I prefer to run everything from the hard drive...I have kids and feel the SD card could vanish at anytime. Everything works fine running from USB instead of SD.

The Clean Rip method is kind of a pain (having to move files and create folders after ripping). I guess this ensures a working rip, but after I got it setup with my first game I was able to use USB Loader Gx to install a second game and it ran fine....I don't know if it works 100% but it was way more convenient.

I don't understand the versions of USB loader GX. I was using it previouslly and think I had the latest version (v3.0). This version did not have the devolution options. What is r1209 that this guide uses and where does it come from? Devolution is actually the loader.bin file right? I looked at the GBAtemp thread and this did not clear this up for me....basically I don't think I could have gotten this to work (outside of using the basic loader) with out this guide but I would like to understand it a bit better.

It's my understanding that the r#### versions of USB Loader GX are kind of like "beta" versions. Basically, since it is open source, it's constantly being worked on and updated, but only a few times is an "official" release made that is specifically designed to minimize the amount of bugs and be as stable as possible.

Regarding GX vs CleanRip, just be aware that you might still have to use CleanRip for a game or two. I personally haven't run into this since I ripped all my games via CleanRip, but one guy in particular had problems with PSO when he ripped with GX but was fixed when he used CleanRip.

Speaking of USB loaders, SNES_Master, is your r188 update going to include the version of Wiiflow that has the option for true widescreen rendering? (GX and CFG currently do not have any revisions that were made after r188's release)

The GX 3.0 that was in the app pack is the latest non-beta version to be released (rev1180: May, 2012). Anything after that are future beta releases, mainly to take advantage of Dios Mios/Dios Mios Lite/Devolution. The latest version of that is rev1209.

    Thanks for the info.

Where can I find the USB loader GX beta versions and info? When I google the code page for it I only see the official releases.

It's just the devolution loader.bin file that you have to add to it to make it work properly right?

I have a link to the latest version of GX (and other loaders) in my signature.

as for how to get it working with Devo, I don't know. I've never used it, so someone else will have to help with that one.

What is PSO anyway? Is that an abbreviation of a GameCube game? Phantasy star online?

Regarding USB Loader GX, you set up beta versions the same way as a release version. In the Loader's options, you tell it to use Devolution for GameCube loading and then of course put in the path to the loader.bin file.

As for PSO, yes, PSO = Phantasy Star Online. The main thing is that Devolution includes modem emulation, so you can play the game online through the Wii's wifi.

For PSO support questions in Devolution, refer to this topic:
    Wii Support

The creator of Devolution seems to be an avid PSO player, so he is particularly active in the above-linked topic.

Yes, I do plan on updating all the loaders as well as Devolution. I may wait for the next Devolution release first as the USB compatibility issues you've mentioned are a bit unsettling.

    Here are some random thoughts/question:

    1) I prefer to run everything from the hard drive...I have kids and feel the SD card could vanish at anytime. Everything works fine running from USB instead of SD.

    1) That is perfectly acceptable as long as it works for you.

    2) You can rip them with your loader however, I find it more reliable to use CleanRip. I have had a few games not work correctly with Devolution despite reaching 100% completion when ripping.

    3) Pretty much all revisions of USB Loader GX you'll find are 3.0. The difference is each one is tagged with a revision number. The stable 3.0, used by most guides, is r1180. Anything higher the that is a beta release. Due to their beta status they have some bugs in them (nothing damaging, don't worry) so most guides, such as the Softmod ANY Wii Guide, will usually use the 3.0 r1180 (the latest stable version). In order to use GameCube games via USB you must have a higher revision. You don't neccisarily need the latest (r1209), though I recommend it. As long as you have r1200 or higher you can use GC games via USB Loader GX with Devolution's Loader.bin. The r1209 I have included is straight from the source, I got it right from the USB Loader GUI google code page and I have included Devolution's loader.bin (r169) as well.

Yes, that's correct. For USB Loader GX to have integrated Devolution support you only need the loader.bin for devo and, of course, the boot.dol for USB Loader GX. My USB Loader GX attachment is a complete package, you get the following files:

    boot.dol (USB Loader GX)
icon.png (USB GX icon for the HBC screen)
Meta.xml (USB GX info displayed by the HBC when you click on the USB GX icon)
    Loader.bin (Devolution's loader)

These all should he placed in a usbloader_gx folder in the apps folder containing all your Homebrew apps (not the apps folder with gc_devo and your dvv files.

If I install Dios Mios too will it be able to run games from the clean rips Devoltuion uses or does Dios Mios have different requirements?

I am really happy with Devolution right now but was thinking of checking out Dios Mios as well.

Yes, DM and Devo can be used together, but you have to place the ISOs in different directories I think.
