Just to add for best overall compatibility you should just use a HDD formatted to FAT32 32KB clusters. There are no advantages to using NTFS over FAT32 on the Wii.

As said before, the apps need to be run on a FAT 32 partition, but you can use a FAT32 SD card to store apps like USBLoader GX and keep the games on the NTFS formatted HDD you have.

i just had a problem after following this guide (for overwritting my old dios mios which didnt work either). so i installed the dios mios 2.4 wad that i got from the link and then usb loader, but when trying to run from usb loader it told me that i needed to copy to my sd card. i tried another version of usb loader (v1202) and this one didn't tell me to copy, but when i got to the dios mios splash it just went into a black screen and never loaded my game. i tried discex several times now with my game and it still doesn't work, what can i do?
edit: i just used acronis disk director to make it 32kb cluster size, easeus had left it at 64kb and now it works

Try a different USB device and follow ALL the steps to the guide at DIOS MIOS' site. Try using an SD card as well. I've already posted this in your other thread for the link to follow.

Odd, I followed the guide here and used r1203, I could get to the Dios Mios splash screen, and the GC controller worked ( I was able to use the turbo button, has a light indicator ) , but it never went past the splash screen, probably because my Wii's DVD drive isn't connected to the Wii, the brown clasp that holds the cable that allows the motherboard to talk to the DVD drive is missing, that's why I need to run this on an emunand, I think the reason why it never passes the splash screen is because it checks for a disc in the drive since this runs on the actual firmware, and I'm pretty sure that all USB loaders need to tell the DVD drive that there is a disc in it for it to work. Also, the NoDisc settings never worked for me, does it decide if it uses NoDisc or not if it does not see a disc in the drive ?

    Hi

I am in a dilemma. I have a 4gb sdhc and a 32gb sdhc. The 4gb card works with dios mios lite and what not but I cannot get the 32gb card working. i even did an exact copy of the cards and it does work. The error is fatal error apploader size is zero.

And another question, when i use wad manger to install DML 2.4, I chose IOS 236 correct?

When it says the apploader size is zero, it was unable to mount your iso, try re-ripping or re-installing it.
If that does not work, the SD card may not be compatible with Dios Mios.
and yeah, pretty sure IOS 236 is the preferred IOS for installing wads.

    Saving games on GC games

    Hi,

Thanks for all your great works. I am not sure this is at the right place (sorry for that).
Do I need to have a GC Memory Card to save the games or is there an option in Usb Gx loader that make it save on the sd card instead ?

    Many Thanks

There is an option called NMM, " No More Memory Cards ", it uses the SD card / USB drive to store saves, but it doesn't work with every game.
If you are using USB Loader GX, it should be in the Loader settings, if you use SNEEK/UNEEK, it should be in the DM(L) menu.

Verify that your HDD is using 32KB cluster size or less.(must be formatted to 32kb clusters for Dios Mios)Use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced : right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size: I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced on three HDD to change it from 64KB to 32KB and I did not lose any data. (I ONLY RECOMMEND ACRONIS BECAUSE NO DATA LOSS) If you use any other HDD program you will have to backup everything before you change the cluster size. You do not need a disc in it for it to work , also the NoDisc setting should be OFF.
