I have a few games on my FAT32 HDD and the ones that were ripped by USB Loader GX work fine, but games I transferred from .gcm files using DMToolbox or DiscEX 0.8 do not work and freeze the Wii with a black screen. The only thing I noticed in the files were the naming scheme for the ripped games includes the name on the folder and the DiscEx and DMT put some other file folder with it including some binary files. Anyone know what the problem is with this?
Also, I had to download the .dol from here because the official site had an old build that would not let me run from USB . Thanks for the heads up in this thread.

So I followed the guide and skipped the optional Chapter 2.
I didn't fully understand Chapter 5 as I am mainly doing this for my wii backups and not Gamecube ones, so I skipped it at first but encountered my current problem so I followed through with it and a .gcm file and moved folders accordingly.
My file structure looks as it should in Chapter 6.
However, after loading the wad manager, and attempting to select ios 236, it does not appear in my available choices.
Its default choice is IOS249 and when I press left to go to ios 236, it skips to IOS223.
I have looked everywhere for several hours and I have finally succumbed.
I am swallowing my pride and inquiring to know what I have not done correctly.
What kills me is that I know the solution is right in front of me and it is some very simple thing I have not done.

If it's any help as to why I have no IOS236, I Letterbombed my 4.3 wii to get the Homebrew Channel before moving on to this guide- nothing more and nothing less.

Are you using the channel forwarder from the main Wii menu? Does USB Loader GX show up in the app list on the Homebrew Channel? Make sure USB Loader GX is in the app folder on your SD card.

In USB Loader GX, go to settings, loader settings, dml video mode and make sure it is set to use game setting.

On my system, 236 is just before 245. I recommend you go back to the softmod any Wii guide and redo your softmod (do not skip any steps) to make sure you have all of the latest IOS.

When I do that, it just shuts the Wii off when it loads but before I see the DIOS MIOS screen. Now when I turn it back to auto, it goes black screen most of the time. What setting is effed up? Is this why it was pulled from the official site?

You are using the latest version of Dios Mios and the settings in USB Loader GX is set to Dios Mios? If the answer is yes try setting the loader settings to default and only changing the Dios Mios version and DML Video.

Something has been screwed up with this program. I did everything mentioned and I still only get a black screen. I even tried to change it back and it just freezes.

Now it will not load GC games from CFG USB Loader, DIOS MIOS booter or GX. I even tried to launch the game disc and it still freezes with the original GC disc. When I reinstalled the MIOS, the Gamecube disc loaded as it should. It seems that this DIOS MIOS is very buggy as I had it running perfectly last night with the ISOs on the HDD. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out and I haven't been able to find any solution.

I'm currently working on it now, thanks.
Having a little trouble getting Priiloader to install.
    It keeps telling me
    "Checking for Priiloader. . .
Priiloader not found, aborting mission. . ."

    Dunno why.
I've followed explicit instructions in the guide thus far.

Just answered your question in the other thread. You can continue with the guide without Priiloader. You should try to use another SD and see if the Priiloader install is still giving you problems.

    I have two questions:

    1. Can you run apps like USB Loader GX from a NTFS formatted HDD?

    2. Can you run games from a NTFS formatted HDD or only from FAT32?

    1. Apps can only be run from a Fat32 drive/partition.
    2. Yes, you can play Wii games that are on a NTFS formatted drive/partition
