    I had my wii already softmoded and was using usb loader gx with about 5 games. I was now taking the "next" step to put smash bros melee, metroid prime and wind waker on the same hd. Trying to make this thing work for the last hour at least walking from the tv to the pc with hard drive and sd card in hand...

    I am still able to play the wii games via usb loader but still the usb loader is not "recognizing" or seeing the gc games in the usb1:/games/ folder. Not sure what specifically I am doing wrong because my file structure matches perfectly with the tutorial.

    Should I clear everything and just start over again?

    Also had some other questions.

    1. "3) Nand Channel Emulation and change to full" Couldnt find that in the usb loader settings
    2. is it possible to place gc games at sd:/games/ instead of usb1:/games? I wanted to only plug in the hard drive to play wii games and play everything else off the sd card.
    Try launching your GC games using USB Loader GX r1203.

    Hello All,
    I am fairly new here. And I had a quick question that hopefully someone might be able to help me with.
    I have everything up and running (for the most part)
    I am able to have USB Loader Gx load up through Homebrew Channel and am able to see both my 1 wii game (Legend of Zelda: Skyword Sword), and my 1 Gamecube game (NHL Hitz 2002)
    I click on Skyword Sword and it loads up perfectly and I am able to play it just like on my Disk.
    However, when i click on my Gamecube game this message pops up

    "This game is on an HDD, do you want to "Load from SD", "Copy to SD", or "Cancel"

    I have followed this guide and have installed the latest version of Dios Mios, and USB Loader Gx
    So my question is what can I do to fix this? Is there a way to tell if I have everything installed properly? is there a way to do a "clean softmod" and start again from scratch?

    I also did a System Check if anyone wants to see it, I dont know if you can tell if I have the correct version of Dios Mios installed from this, or if there is any way to find out what version of Dios Mios I have installed.

    Spoiler

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

    Your soft mod is nonexistent.
    Please follow the soft mod any wii guide , The link is at the bottom of my signature.
    Start from Soft Mod With Homebrew Channel Installed.
    Read the guide a few times , then proceed.

    hello!
    first of all i would like to thank the OP for a terrific guide and all the subsequent contributors who have tried to help all the various posters like myself who are experiencing problems.
    i find myself probably facing a incompatibility issue with my external hd.However as i am not certain of this yet and having browsed a large amount of various topics associated with this problem i will try and see if indeed its a cock up on my part to begin with my actual hard ware set up
    red wii ntsc console
    external drive is a seagate freeagent go 320gb drive usb powered 2.5 " form factor sn:2GEL387Y
    PN:9LE2AG-501
    I used the recommended Mauifrog method to mod this Wii and all is fine on the Wii side of things play most of my titles with no problems{still having issues with metroid trilogy}
    all my problems are with dios mios and getting it to work
    the hard drive is formatted in fat 32 with 32k clusters using the pertinent guide recommended
    i have tried wiiflow {804}
    usb loader cfg
    usbloader gx r1203/1202/1204 etc etc
    HBC is version 1.1 on ios58 v24.32sysCheck #LtqJ3gPo and here is my syscheck{did this 2 mins ago brand new}
    usbloadergx.cfg.and wifflow all see my usb drive and i can click on the GameCube titles d/l the covers etc
    but if i try to play i get one of 2 error msgs
    a! al area apploader is not with area of etc
    or
    fatal eror apploader is zero etc

    Could be your drive doesn't support Dios Mios.
    Everything is good with your system check.

    As long as you have the ports for the Game Cube and an HDD that supports it you should be good.
    Post your problem in the Dios Mios Guide, you will get more help their.

    Yeah I got it working with DIOS MIOS Lite, from my SD Card, but couldn't get it to work with the USB, so I will ask around in there and see if they know anything.

    Thanks

    Update to GX R1204. The latest GX is in the bottom of this page USB Loader GX, Replace the boot.dol in your SD /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one(r1204_IOS249).
    Install USB Loader GX -UNEO_Forwarder Channel 5_1_AHBPROT.wad for USB Loader GX channel.

    If you are still having issues,verify that your HDD is using 32KB cluster size or less, use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced : right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size: I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced on three HDD to change it from 64KB to 32KB and I did not lose any data. (I ONLY RECOMMEND ACRONIS BECAUSE NO DATA LOSS)If you use any other HDD program you will have to backup everything before you change the cluster size.
    The Main GameCube Path has to be USB1. The games folder has to be in USB1 for DIOS MIOS to work:
    USB1/games/GAMEID/game.iso
