    Wow, this thread is outstanding. So So much information.

    I am pulling my hair out here. I have a WD 4TB My Book HDD and I can not get it to work with GC
    I got the GC playing from the USB 100% perfect but I can not get them to work from my 4TB HDD.

    So I am guessing my HDD is not compatible, WHAT? No Way! Right?

    I have tried different formatters and I partitioned the drive.
    Why won't Dios Mios read the games? It goes to a black screen and Dios Mios doesn't show up.

    If anyone knows a way around this you can stop me pulling my hair out before I go bald.

    I can play the GC but I want them all together on my Massive 4TB HDD.
    Do I have to buy a different brand HDD? I thought I had the best.

    What can I do?

    If everything is the same except the brand of HDD, then it's incompatible. However there is a method to make the drive compatible, which I don't know at the moment. It was mentioned earlier in this thread. Specifically DM doesn't work with a 'type' of HDD rather than individual brands. I will do some research for you.

    EDIT:

    A little search through the thread and I found it.

    Your HDD can be GPT or MBR. (thanks candylove) And your HDD has to be in MBR format.

    However....MBR drives have a maximum size of 2 TB........and you have a 4 TB drive.....

    Google how to convert GPT into MBR

    Convert GPT disk to MBR disk with free partition manager, Windows Disk Management and Diskpart command.

    (I feel so proud that I can use the search function effectively
    )

    So it seems to me that you will have to partition your 4 TB drive into two 2 TB partitions, making sure that you put your games on the first partition. But having multiple partitions has been known to cause problems themselves

    According to my computer my hard drive was already MBR but I switched it to GPT and back to MBR.
    Partitioned it 800GB and 3200GB because I only need about 750GB for the GC games.
    But it did not work, the GC's would not load.
    Must I partition it at 2TB because this would be a lot of wasted space. I can not have 2 Wii Game partitions, right? That would not work.

    Man oh man, what a headache.

    I just tried Devolution, You got to have the original disk to make that work.
    Gonna try it to see if it can at least read the HDD

    I guess I am just going to have to use SD cards for now. At least until DM is fixed. I also noticed a problem with WiiFlow, it loads some of the GC games but not all. If I go strait to DM Loader it works fine. So I am going to put CFG on the SD card and use it to play them.

    Can't wait to use my 4TB.
    If anyone ever finds a 4TB that works without error and without being partitioned I guess I might convert to that HDD.

    But if someone does figure out how I can get this WD 4TB My Book to work with Dios Mios please let me know. But for now I am giving up, been at this for a week. At least I can play them now. I never could get it to work before.

    And now a friend of mine told me I can put WiiWare on the hard drive and load it with WiiFlow and CFG, WHAT? REALLY? Awesome but now I got more work to do, LOL.

    DM isn't broken. and you can't get a 4 TB to work with DM because it can't be MBR since MBR's limit is 2 TB. So unless Crediar decides to update DM with GPT compatibility (or there is an actual way to get MBR greater than 2 GB) you can't use the full 4 TB drive with it.

    By DM Loader do you mean Dios Mios Booter?

    Thanks for the guide. I just have 2 quick questions about it before I do anything.

    First, you say to "install DIOS MIOS v2.9 wad file with Wad Manager 1.7. You may install it with d2x v8 base 56, or IOS236 base 36". I'm assuming since IOS236 base 36 is in bold that it is the one I should use, correct? What are the differences from installing it one way or the other?

    Second, I already have USB Loader GX installed after following the Softmod Any Wii Guide. You say that all I have to do to update my loader is to replace the boot.dol file with the one I downloaded from your link. But that zip file contains 3 folders each one with a different IOS number. How do I know which boot.dol from which folder I need to use? I've done a lot of searching on it and it seems like most people use IOS249 but I can't find any reason why that is. Like what's the difference between them and why would I use one over the other? Thank you.

    @Clutz:

    Did you follow the "Softmod ANY Wii" guide? If so, wad manager should default to cIOS 249 (which is d2x V8 base 56). The idea is wad manager needs a Trucha-enabled cIOS (fake signed ie appear as Nintendo-authenticated code). 249 and similar feature the d2x code; 222/223 Hermes code (another author of a different cIOS). Go with 249, d2x code is by far more current.

    Yes. I followed the Softmod Any Wii Guide to the T from beginning to end with no issues. However, the guide has me use Wii Mod v3.2 to install my WADs and not Wad Manager 1.7. Is there any difference between the 2 programs? When I load up Wii Mod, I'm assuming it defaults to IOS236 and not IOS249 like you said it would if I used Wad Manager 1.7 because in the top right corner of Wii Mod it says "Current IOS:236 v54321". I'm assuming if I wanted to use this instead program instead of Wad Manager 1.7 I could just change the IOS to 249 like you suggested and install it that way, right? Or should I just download Wad Manager 1.7 and use that instead?
