Hey! I've actually used DiOS MiOS in the past to play Smash Bros. Melee without any problems, but lately I've been getting a green screen after the splash screen. I've read that it might have something to do with switching video modes, but I've tried every combination of video options in my loaders (both WiiFlow and USB Loader GX). I can't seem to fix the issue..

Hey man, i got a couple of questions and i still am new to the WII softmoding scene, anyways, i followed the FAT32 guide on someones Sig, for my GC and WII games (it was last formatted to WBFS which i was told to remove) anyways i was reading through the instructions and what confuses me is the IOS parts,
What is mIOS? and why does it prevent me from playing my retail gamecube games which i plan to backup?
2nd question is you install with wad manager 1.7 and then there are those 3 options, d2x v8 base 56, or IOS236 base 36. What are they?
3rd question, a couple of my WII games on the computer are WBFS format, do i have to make them ISO to work with FAT32 32kb cluster or can i keep them as WBFS (the program i use wii backup manager allows me to convert wbfs to iso if i have to)
last question in the folder called games, should i make a folder for both GC and WII or just have the games folder only and have both sets of games in there?

IOS stands for input output system (I think) and it's what your wii uses to do it's stuff. mIOS is just what it uses when it plays gamecube games. Dios Mios is an IOS that will replace your wii's mIOS so it might not work the way you want it to (you not being able to play retail games, even though this problem has been fixed a long time ago according to DM's changelog).

You shouold install with IOS236 base 36. They are IOS that you should have installed. IOS236 and d2x v8 are custom IOS or cIOS that you use to overwrite the Wii's original IOS. and the base is the IOS that the custom IOS is based on or modded on. So IOS 236 base 36 is a custom IOS which is a form of your Wii's original IOS 36. (Your wii has 256 IOS I think. Many of them are blank especially the ones beyond IOS number 200, which is why our custom IOS take up those slots)

The games folder is only for you to put your gamecube games after they have been properly formatted.

You can keep your games in WBFS format, however, if the wbfs file is larger than 4GB like Brawl or Metroid Prime 3, then it will need to be split into 4GB parts. I always convert my isos to wbfs because they are smaller so I can fit more on my external HDD. The program I use for conversion from iso to wbfs automatically splits them into 4GB parts if necessary and puts them in the right folders (the wbfs\gamename folder). I am not sure if there is another way to store wbfs wii games on the HDD.

Hope I answered all your qusetions. I'm not too hardware savvy with the Wii, so you might have to ask someone better acquainted about the IOS stuff.

Thanks i got rid of the WBFS partition anyway, its in fat 32 and it loads the wii games fine it seems to creat a .wbfs and a .wbfs1 file if the file is over 4gb , so far anyway, is there a way to tell which IOS i have installed, i think i have that one installed, and well... i compared DIOS MIOS with devolution (which cfg loader now comes with) devolution seems to have alot more compatibility with games, but it also requries the one time usage of a retail disc, of some games i cannot find anymore and id really not rather buy off ebay, while DIOS MIOS can skip that kind of thing. can you have both on at the same time?

Yes, Devolution and Dios Mios can both be used without conflicting with each other

To tell which IOS you have installed, run a syscheck. If you look at some of the mod's signatures (Nightstah, llaugher, SNES_Master) they should have a link to how to do one. Basically you install the system check application in homebrew run it, and it will print out a file for you that you can read on your computer or post it here. I think you can use DIOS MIOS and Devolution at the same time....most definitely yes. Because Dios Mios uses mIOS while Devolution uses cIOS. You just can't run Dios Mios and Dios Mios Lite at the same time (lite is for running off of SD cards).

Actually I haven't tried Devolution yet because DIOS MIOS worked so well for me especially with the controller shortcuts to the menu and to shut down.

It's not that Dios Mios skips that thing it's just that it doesn't have the anti-piracy feature that Devolution has, and I didn't know that CFG Loader is bundled with it now.

It's not actually bundled with it, but it does have the option to download it built into the program. So you can get it straight off the Wii itself rather than using your PC.

ok if i were to run this, could someone tell me what i should update? which cIOS to switch etc? im doing a system check right now.
I also want to be able to run RVLshopping2.1 but i softmodded my wii before he used this or the new loader he used so i dont know how to do it, and can i still buy stuff off the channel or would i get caught and my wii bricked? Also there are a couple of retail discs i lost (mainly super smash bros melee thanks to my bloody bro) but still have the isos of them and burnt to backup discs, but CFG loader cant seem to back them up it gives me error ret = 2 or something like that.

Yup, we'll just need to see it then we can tell you if or what needs to be updated.
