    if 1209 won't work, 1211 won't work. that's not the problem.

The WBFS partition concerns me. Which partition is first and primary?

EDIT: Really? 1211 worked when 1209 didn't? I find that odd, but if it's working, great.

Well it worked once with Luigi's mansion, then I added some games to the HDD and downloaded the covers and it doesnt work anymore...

When you re-install the USB Loader from fresh did you delete the old CFG / settings files in the USB Loader, because every time you change USB HDD format you may have to delete the old CFG / settings files because it was set to use the WBFS HDD or FAT32 HDD. It is recommended to have wii games and gamecube games on one partition FAT32 HDD.

I deleted the folder and used a "all in one" kit to reinstall it. then i overwrote the boot.dol with the r1211 version. I'm pretty sure i tested with the fat32 gc hdd first and it didnt work. I just don't feel like moving all of my wii games right now since the gc games are not even working.

You will always have issues if you keep changing USB HDD format because of the settings on the SD card if you transfer every on your SD card or put a new apps folder with new apps on your FAT32 HDD maybe it will work without the SD card for the FAT32 HDD and you could use the SD card only for the WBFS HDD
Did you delete the config folder on the SD card also and try other usb loaders, maybe you could use GX for wii games and wiiflow or DM Booter for gamecube games.
    WiiFlow: v4.1
    CFGLoader: cfg70MODr51

You could also use wbfs2fat, it does not delete the wii games you will not lose any games, I use it and I did not lose any games and the wii games and HB stuff all work perfect after and it is VERY FASTwbfs2fatpy. If you use wbfs2fat you will have to check your cluster size, sometimes its FAT32 with 64KB cluster size. Your Wii games will work perfect with 64KB or 32KB but it has to be 32KB for gamecube games to work.

Use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check: right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size:
I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check my hard drive cluster size and it was 64KB so I change it to 32KB and I did not lose any data and it is also VERY FAST. I only recommend Acronis and wbfs2fat because no data loss if you use any other HDD program you will have to back up all data.
Then you could have both wii games and gamecube games on the same USB HDD and you should not have any issues if both USB HDD are FAT32. I keep a apps folder with the usb loaders apps only on my FAT32 HDD and I use my SD card for game saves and other apps. One of my wii I do not use a SD card and everything works perfect from the FAT32 USB HDD.

    ...one last noob question

I have seen posts stating I need my gc controller, and some that say the wii classic will work. Is there a list somewhere that states which works with which?
I tried with Luigi's Mansion, but could not get it to work via wii classic, and I sold my gc controllers / game system years ago.

    thx

    JK
