For the life of me, I can't seem to get dios mios v2.8 to work on my wii to load gamecube backups from an external USB hard drive. After attempting to boot a game, my wii powers off. Here's what I've tried, let me know if I've missed anything or how to proceed:

I'm using USB Loader GX 3.0 r1209. I've folllowed the d2x cIOS installation guide (http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-g...soles-only.html) and installed d2x v8 to all of the slots the guide specifies except base 36, slot 245 (The installer won't let me select base 36 for slot 245, the lowest it goes is 37). I used Wad Manager 1.7 to install dios mios 2.8 (Not lite version) to IOS249, as the dios mios guide (http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-g...ur-usb-hdd.html) says to install it where d2x v8 base 56 is. I've checked that my external drive is formatted with 32 kb clusters FAT32 by creating a text file and checking "size on disk". I've updated wiitdb.xml and the program itself (which it said was up to date) from the update option in the settings menu. The credits screen shows that I'm running r1209 with d2x v8 base 56 and shows "DIOS MIOS 2.6.1+" in the upper left.

The problem happens if I use USB Loader GX to install from my original Metroid Prime 2 USA game disc (DM Compatibility list says this game works OK) or if I load an uncompressed ISO (ripped with rawdump and put through DMToolbox) from my PC onto the USB drive. The game shows up on the channel view without a problem, but if I try to play, the wii powers off. If I leave the game disc in the drive and try to load a different game I've ripped, the Wii will boot the gamecube game in the disc drive. That's a little awkwardly worded but for example if I try to run Fire Emblem Path of Radiance from the USB HD and have Metroid Prime 2 disc in the disc drive, it will boot Metroid Prime 2. Any ideas? I get the same issue using Configurable USB Loader. I thought that DIOS MIOS disabled playing retail games from the drive, but is that only in old versions?

I installed Configurable USB Loader to see if it was a loader problem as well. I updated to v70r51, it says "Mios is Dios Mios" and Dios Mios 2.2+ is installed in my debug, and I get the same problem when trying to load GC games. I've tried installing a game directly from the loader (Metroid Prime 2, which seems to be in the clear for compatibility stuff) instead of from PC, and get "fatal error apploader size is zero!". I've enabled/disabled NMM and NoDisc, but it doesn't seem to affect it. I saved the debug log and can post it if that would help.

Sounds like you're doing everything right.

    Try this.

Delete the game from the hard drive, put in the game disk and load GX r1209. Then install the game as if you were installing a Wii game. Once that is done, see if it works, or if it still goes belly up you.

Also, could be something flaky with the power supply, something in the Mios that triggers the power supply to fail. No good test for that.

Wouldn't hurt to post a syscheck to see if anything else jumps out at us. There's a guide to generating and posting syschecks in my signature.

Just tried deleting and reinstalling, same thing happened. How might I identify a problem with the power supply, if that's the case? I'll post the syscheck here, but if there's somewhere better to post it, let me know. Is it normal for the syscheck to say "HomebrewFilter ist nicht installiert"? I'm not german and am using an NTSC wii from the US. If the program has a german developer that's one thing, but I just want to make sure my wii isnt confused about regions or something.

    Syscheck:

    colonelfarva,
reinstall DM 2.8 with Wad Manager 1.7 to IOS236.
For USB Loader GX, go into settings>custom paths, and change the path to USB1:/games
GC games only works if it's in (USB1) 1st partition of the HDD it will not work if it's in (USB2)
Try from HBC 1st and update your GX Channel with USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad

No luck with that stuff candylove. The wii still powers off. I don't run either loader from the channel, I figure they're more trouble than they're worth. Gamecube games won't even show up if the USB path isn't set right, that sure confused me when I first started trying to get DM working...

Your USB HDD have one partition or multiple partitions? The main GameCube path has to be 1st partition (USB1) it will not work in USB2 or USB3 even if the GC games shows up in the loaders.
    If you have multiple partitions:

I'm having a problem here, i followed the Dios Mios 2.8 installation guide for USB HDD, but i can't get gamecube games to show up, i tried with wiiflow, usb loader gx, and cfg. The only one that worked partially is DML booter, the game (in my case TLOZ: TWW) sometimes appears and sometimes don't, when it does, and when i try to open it, sometimes i get a black screen and i have to turn off my wii, and sometimes the Dios Mios logo appears on the screen with this error message "fatal error: apploader size is zero!". Also, a lot of times DML booter shows the message error "Exception (DSI) ocured, and i have to turn off my wii.

Can someone help me please? I tried everything already and i can't get Dios Mios to work.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have wi-fi right now to update from the console, but i downloaded and installed manually the latest version of cfg loader and it didn't worked. I still can't see gamecube games.

I have the latest versions of CFG, GX, and WiiFlow in my signature. All of them should work with Dios Mios.

Make sure that you have the files on the USB drive looking like this:

USB:/games/{gameID}/game.iso (with other files in the directory)
