Of course I'll link it. If not for you then for the obvious relation between DIOS MIOS and Devolution.

So I read the 26 pages of this thread before finally skipping to the end. Is there a final answer yet? Here's my scenario and anyone willing to give a quick answer would be appreciated. I have the first model wii' that I soft-modded about two years ago. I am currently able to load wii iso's from an external wd hdd. I would like to place a few gcm files I have (and own the games for) onto to this hdd. Is it yet possible to load *.gcm's and wii.iso's from one hdd without breaking the ability to read retail gcm discs? Sure i can just rip the others as well if there is not a solution to keep readability for my GC games. Or is there one guide that goes through all the current wads and loaders in one swoop? Again any advice is appreciate. Thanks.

Yea that was fixed with DIOS MIOS 2.2. Did I not state that in the guide? There's no problem in you trying it out for yourself as you can always re-install your MIOS or cMIOS, fixing the problem.

    Read guide-dios-mios
If your external wd hdd is FAT32 with 32KB cluster size, then it is perfectly fine to put GC games in the "games" folder on the same HDD with WII games in the "wbfs" folder.
    USB1\Games\gameID\game.iso
    Use
DIOS MIOS 2.2 wad for USB,( not DIOS MIOS Lite for SD) install with Wad Manger with IOS236
Use DiscEX-v0.8b-cred.rar or DiscEX-V0.9-cred.rar to convert GC images to the required format, just drag and drop it on DiscEx. application
Update your USB Loader to the newest one, CFG Loader r48 or wiiflow v4.0.1 r431or Downloads - usbloader-gui - USB Loader GX update to USB Loader GX r1202,Replace the boot.dol in your SD or USB /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one
Always try from HBC first, if your USB Loader channels are forwarders then it will work perfect.

Okay yeah ive read about 30 pages of this. Im still lost. Im having the problem of dios mios loads, i see the nintendo sign (the beginning of animal crossing) and my wii shuts off. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Im thinking it might be my hard drive (3 partitions, 1st is GC games formatted to fat32 32 cluster, 2nd is 1.5 tb of NTFS, and the third is formatted to WBFS (through wii game manager). That has my wii games on it and it does load). So yeah. My games show up just fine in every loader. in wiiflow it goes to nintendo and dies. In cfg i get the two different error codes (forget what they are called, the common dios mios fails) Im lost. I made a video to kind of help show what ive got going on.

dunno if im allowed to post the youtube link or not.

It may just be your USB Loader settings
    wiiflow v4.0.1 r431 GameCube Loader/ DIOS-MIOS, Video mode/ Default, Debugger/ Default, Ocarina/ Default, NMM/ Default, No DVD Patch/ Default.
    update to CFG Loader r48
The most important is that your FAT32 is 1st partition with 32KB cluster size, primary and active. You maybe having issues because of multiply partitions and DIOS MIOS can not load your FAT32 partition.
I also had a NTFS drive which work prefect with wii backup but not GC backup so I made a fat32 partition, but it was partition 2, so to change it to partition 1, I had to change all partitions to logical and then change the fat32 to primary 1st plus active and then the NTFS to primary, so the fat was 1st partition and the NTFS was 2nd partition now all GC backup and wii backup works perfect. For CFG to work you have to move config.txt plus settings.CFG from SD/apps/USBLoader to FAT32 USB/usb-loader this will make CFG load the FAT32 partition. My HDD only have two partitions and DIOS MIOS works perfect.

PS Having WII games and GC games on the same partition is the most compatible, have you thought about converting your WBFS partition to FAT32 ?
You could try wbfs2fat,it does not delete the games you will not lose any games, I use it and I did not lose any games and the wii games and HB stuff all work perfect after and it is very fast
    wbfs2fatpy
if you use wbfs2fat you will have to check your cluster size, sometimes its FAT32 with 64KB cluster size
"Most applications that format drives automatically set it to 64kb, even if you tell it to do 32kb. A simple double check will make sure it's right."
I believe if your hard drive is larger than 500GB you have to use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check: right click your disk/change cluster size/current cluster size:
I use Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced to check my hard drive cluster size and it was 64KB so I change it to 32KB and I did not lose any data and it is very quick.

My HDD is WD 2TB, 1st partition 200GB FAT32 for HB and GC games, 2nd partition 1.63 TB NTFS for WII games and Videos

I used easeUsPartition to make it, so i know its 32b clusters. I've tried moving everything converted to Fat32 and put wii on that, still wouldnt work. This is the best set up i've found so far. I at least get to the nintendo screen.
My first partition is fat32, primary and active. My second is NTFS, which is not active and logical, my wii partition (3) is WBFS. Games load from the wii partition fine (better than ever actually). but it is still dropping the power at the nintedo sign. Heres my video of what i go going on, sorry if i wasnt supposed to post it.
