Keep in mind that prior to this, DM 2.2 worked perfectly on my Wii. My HDD is still the same, 32kb clusters, single FAT32 partition. Wii games did and still work properly.

In this thread I asked if it was ok to merge both my SD and USB root drives onto the USB. I did so. Immediately GC support was lost. Retail and Dios Mios. All covers were gone as well. Whenever I would try to run a GC game I would get a black screen. No DM logo or anything. I transferred all of the SD files back from the usb to the sd card as it was. Still GC mode doesn't work. I reinstalled Mios V10 via IOS 236 and MMM (the original GC mode) and retail GC games worked properly. I reinstall DM 2.2 with the same method? Same black screen. I have used several of the latest versions of CFG usb loader to no avail. Retail discs just draw a blank screen even before the DM logo would appear. No disc verification/spinning occurs.

    What is going wrong?
I basically have the same issue not matter what I try I always get a black screen after the dm logo but discs work fine

Are you using DIOS MIOS 2.2 wad for USB, not DIOS MIOS Lite for SD? Remove disc from drive.
try dios-mios-booter r30 First, if it does not work, check your cluster size with Acronis Disk Director 11 Advanced or MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition. If it works, Update to CFG Loader r48 or try wiiflow v4.0.1 r431 or Downloads - usbloader-gui - USB Loader GX update to USB Loader GX r1202,Replace the boot.dol in your SD or USB /apps/ usbloader_gx with the updated one.
    Always use the
USB Loader GX-UNEO_Forwarder_5_1_AHBPROT.wad to install the channel or you will have to load it from HBC ,Select loader mode: check GC Games
Loader Settings/ GameCube Mode/ MIOS (Default & Customs)
For USB Loader GXr1202, go into settings>custom paths, and change the path from SD to USB1:/games/; Try all USB Loaders from HBC first.

PS You may have to replace the old USB Loader apps on the SD or USB Drive with new USB Loader apps because the settings in the old USB Loader apps may be causing the issues

One of my wii I do not use a SD card and it works perfect, but it was set to use USB, if your apps were set to use SD card may not work if you transfer it to USB, you may have to replace the apps with issues on the USB with new apps, if you update your apps from the wii it will try to update to SD card, so you may have to update from computer and put on USB.

I know this is kind off topic, but I posted a while ago about purchasing the Wii Component cable so I can play in 480p. I received it in my mailbox on Monday, plugged it in, set Video Mode to 480p and everything looked much clearer, brighter, crisper, it was great. Suddenly the screen will act weird every now and then. I was playing Kirby Air Ride so random black screens will greatly hinder gameplay which is unacceptable. I tried changing the video settings, and it didn't work. So I tried playing a Wii game via USB Loader GX and again it still appears randomly. So I tried playing a game off a Wii Disc regularly, and 10 minutes in it happens again. I restarted the Wii and left it at the Home menu, and it still happens!

Since the component cable is not made by Nintendo, I initially assumed the cable is at fault, because I had no problems with the original AV cables. There is a possibility that the component ports on my TV monitor are faulty, but whenever the black screen occurs the sound will go off as well... so for those thinking about buying component cables may want to consider the risks of buying the non OEM ones.

I would also like to mention that I have problems getting Dios Mios to boot up, as it requires me to have something in the Disc Drive, and it needs to be active as well. So I have to click Mount DVD drive at least twice, then switch to any GC game which is rather annoying.

What brand did you get? I have Monsters and have had them for over a year now, absolutely flawless.

I'm assuming it's made in China. It didn't bother me that much initially because I thought a cable is just a cable. So i bought the cheapest one on eBay that was available locally.

New Component Cable 480P HDTV AV Audio Video 5RCA Adapter for Nintendo Wii | eBay

No idea what the brand is, even though I have it.

Wow, IMO just go to Toys R' Us or something and pick up Monsters. Mine was $20 but it was worth it. If not I believe GameStop carries their own brand.

Pssh Gamestop. Everything there is twice as expensive as it should be. They sold me a gameube memory card for 20 bucks. And it had less memory than the one I lost, which I got for 15 bucks.

All is well now. I figured it out. I accidentally left the forwarders on the USB HDD as well. That caused Dios Mios to instantly crash.
