Run system check but press right until you see IOS 58 selected. Then post and let me know what it says. If sysCheck doesn't let you select IOS 58 then you don't have it.

Edit: after just looking at your post history and seeing your IOS 58 it looks like it's fine, so the issue is possibly the drive. Do you have the slow loading issue with more than just the 1 game you mentioned?

So far, with both games that I've tried with the working thumb drive. Slow as all get out to load. Once playing, the games run fine except I'm getting music stuttering in one of them.

I guess I could still try clearing out my 16gb sd, plug it into a usb converter piece and try usb loading from there. Would that be any different than simply loading gc from sd?

It would be probably just as slow, if not slower. If you have an SD card, why not use it in the SD slot natively and use DML? You can at least then use a class 10 card to speed things up a little.

Though, using a proper USB hard drive would be the fastest way to go (once again, using DM vs. DML in that case).

SD via USB converter won't work. Sd is still sd so it would need to be in the SD slot and you would need Dios Mios Lite for that.

With the rise of usb loaders you now have easy access to many games, but I've always lamented having to power down or reset the Wii to change games. I've recently discovered that usb loader gx has a setting to help with this, but I've only gotten it to work with Wii games as I don't know how to exit a gc game running via dios mios without powering down. How do I accomplish this?

Lol, sorry cwjakesteel, I forgot about the controller shortcuts...it's been a while since I used DM

@goathouse: Listen to the comment below, he knows more about DM than probably anyone else here

DM can do it: Look at page 1 for the shortcut combo, also enable PADhook in your USB Loader

Hello? Gamecube short cuts to reset the Wii to the system menu?

Enable PADhook, when playing a game press R, Z and Start (simultaneously I think). This will reboot your Wii to the Wii menu.
