Even though the PlayStation Vita is around the corner, it appears Sony's other handheld the PlayStation Portable still has a pulse.
Sony is launching a bundle later this month for the struggling PSP that will package the device with copies of EA titles Madden NFL 12 and Need For Speed Shift.
The bundle will also include a 2GB memory stick and will sell for $159.99.
But will anyone buy it? The DS still dominates the handheld market, smartphone and tablet gaming continues to rise, and the Vita is scheduled to hit the U.S. in 2012 (and Japan later this year).
In June, Sony revealed the PSP had sold 70 million worldwide since its debut in Japan in 2004 (it launched in the U.S. in early 2005). By comparison, Nintendo has sold twice as many DS handhelds 146 million since 2004, according to internal figures.
