GUIDE:
Spoiler
1. Make sure your PS3 is on 3.55 firmware
2. download this
Dashhacks :: PS3-Hacks :: kmeaw's 3.55 CFW Patched PUP
3. unzip and place this file on a usb flash drive thats formatted to fat32, on the flash drive make a folder called PS3 then in that folder make a new folder called UPDATE then place the PS3UPDAT.PUP there
should look like this;
usb:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP (folder names have to use CAPITALS)
4. Install in service mode;
SERVICE MODE GUIDE: turn ur ps3 off then hold the power button down, keep holding it down until it turns on then off, then let go then again hold it down and keep holding it down it will turn on and beep once then beep twice after it beeps twice let go of the power button and your in service mode, you have to use a ps3 controller with the usb charging cord attached then put you flash drive in with the custom firmware and install it... be patient it takes a while
5. download and install a Backup manager: I recommend Multiman!!!
***6. BDEMU.pkg download and install this to make newer versions of multiman work

and GAIA manager
Gaia Manager v2.04 - PSX-SCENE: The oldest and most trusted Playstation Scene Community
to install the backup managers just put them on the root of you flash drive (unzipped) and install with the new INSTALL PACKAGE option under GAME in XMB
***u can back games up to an external usb drive but it has to be fat32 and if the game has files over 4gb in size it gets split and u cant play split games, you have to copy it back to the internal drive to play it....
***This only works with firmware version 3.55 or lower if you have 3.56+ there is no way to downgrade yet***
