What do I use to play PS3 that I download? I notice some game I have download is not in ISO format, is this correct? the size are 10 to 13gb...

Man I got this install but I dont have a big enough hard drive to test any thing out with. My Wii HDD is looking like a porkchop waiting to be eaten. If it take 3 hours to get that thing back up and running I would use it. But I'll be with out games on the Wii.

    Not even from a CFW?
I mean, if I'm at KMEAW 3.55 CFW, will I be able to install 3.41 OFW back on?
(not that I want to do that... just to know if it's possible...)

are the firmware on the hard drive put cfw on now and works but do not get KMEAW name on my system settings?
if i put another hard drive and put ofw will it brick the ps3?
in system settings it will say 3.55 it wont mention KMEAW anywhere as its just a modded version of sony's 3.55, your firmware is installed into system memory not hdd, if you swap hdd and install ofw you will lose the cfw...

not all games work from an external HDD only games with files no bigger than 4gb (due to the fat32 4gb limit) most games are over 4gb but are made up of many smaller files less than 4gb, but some have very large files over 4gb so you need to install them onto the internal drive to play them.

when installing games onto an external drive (from bluray disc) using multiman, it tells you if the game has split files (4gb+ files get split when installing onto external hdd but you can copy them back onto internal drive and they get merged again to play them)

I have installed this and I get black screen with cod: black ops. And Dead rising 2 freezes on loading screens. The Sims 3 seems ok but haven't play much, since I have been trying to get the other 2 to work. Are these problem games? Is there a fix for these on cfw. I have been searching but all I can find is changing the eboot.bin, but have also read that you have to have the original eboot.bin with cfw. These are the only games I own currently, so I cannot test any others, to see if I am just doing something wrong or if there are special fixes with these 2 games.

I am copying the games to the internal drive with the latest version of multiman and gaia manager, from the original discs.

Update: Dead rising 2 needs to be played from the external drive not the internal. Haven't tried it yet but makes sense since I have been backing it up to the internal.
Also I found some posts after searching that black ops needs to be played with the disc in drive trick. I have tried that but still get nothing but a black screen.

Update2: Got both those games working. DR2 from external drive. COD:BO from internal with a game disc in the drive and run fix permissions.

This is a little easier than I thought it was gonna be. I guess it's a good time to mod a ps3, with cfw u do not need any jailbreak and do not need to edit games. Also, with the new loaders having the lv2 patch built in, all there is left is to figure out how to play online without getting banned.

    No working drive

Hi, I was wondering if this will work if my drive isn't working. Or is there a way to get cfw to work without a working drive. Thanks.

do you mean HDD or blu-ray drive?

if you meant internal HDD i reccommend buy a new 1 they are cheap i got a 750gb 2.5" sata drive off ebay for Au$90 delivered.

if you meant blu-ray drive then no you need a working blu-ray drive to install your games

Do you still have to have a disc in the drive the run the backups?
I backed up my GTA IV to the internal hard drive and wouldn't load.
So I put my COD: World of War and tried to load the backup and still
won't load. I used Multiman. In the Multiman download there is 2 pkg
files and in Gaia Manager there is 3. Which one is the correct one?

to get gta4 to work try fixing permissions in multiman, R3 i think and yes most games require a game disc in the bluray drive.

for multiman use the package without the WT on the end of its name if your using KMEAW cfw

for Gaia manager use the package with "games" on the end of the name this way Gaia manager and multiman both use game backups from the /GAMES directory

So, which one do you prefer, GAIA Manager or multiMAN?
What is the advantages and disadvantages of both of them?
    TIA

EDIT: Like Wii, does PS3 run both PAL and NTSC Games?
