I know nothing about PS3 systems, but I just became the owner of one, that when turned on, instantly beeps and shuts off.
Looking for insight as to what the possible problem(s) might be and the best way to go about repairing it if at all possible.
I haven't taken it apart YET, but I do know the HDD is a 60GB.

I dont have a ps3 but, does it have a powerbrick or all internal power supply!!!

Just has a power cord, not a brick type. Just guessing it's either a power supply problem or something similar to the Xbox 360 RROD, meaning a chip or two needs a little work done.Quote:

i have repaired my old ps3 many of times it will only last 3 to 6 months with the fix u are talking about then u will have to do it again.
i got rid of my old 1 and bought a new slim model.
after u do that fix 3 to 4 times u will have to reflux the chips
I think I hit a gold mine...I've been researching the PS3, and it seems the one I have is the out of production 60GB model that is backwards compatible with all PS1, PS2 and PS3 games..
Just have to figure out if I want to sell it or keep the darn thing. It's been put through the ringer the last few days. Hours and hours of hard game play and Blu-Ray movies. I think I'm falling in love with this thing.:)
He's right... a re-flow in most cases (and I'm not limiting this to the PS3) at best is a temporary solution and likely the problem will re-present itself. Right up there with NVidia chips in laptops, XBox RROD, etc.
Yep, she died again... Have to go find some of that liquid flux somewhere and give it another go...:(
