I personally don't like it... its dull I like my pretty and shinny PS3.. I'm all for the price drop even though it should have been done a long time ago.
The one great thing about this is that it doesnt make any noise and the hard drive is quite big and retails the same as a 40 gig or a 20 gig. on the bad side it doesnt suport BC with ps2 games.
I don't really see what the big deal is. I've got a PS3 / Wii and Xbox 360 all sitting under the TV. Theres plenty of space - can't see anyone buying it just course its a BIT smaller.
Price decrease is nice but they should be looking at making more / better games not designing the damn thing.
The only games I play on the PS3 are exclusives that are not on the Xbox - I always buying the XBox version of multi-platform games.
Only brought a PS3 as a friend needed the cash and was selling the orginal 60 Gb with PS2 compat for GBP 250.00 when it was GBP 550.00 in the shops.
I agree they should be trying to enhance the system not take away from it. I don't really care for the size, plus all the other useless additions. Im not sure what selling points is Sony going to use "it's $299"? Come on really??! They lost me on this one..

I also dont see the point in making the slim. It does make sense that it was going to come up with a ps portable, ps2 slim and no doubt the ps3 slim. It's just smaller and uses 40% less power consumption that its big daddy. It might sound weird but i prefer it being bulkier, it looks nicer too. But now the big daddy is at the same price as the slim, any new ps3 buyer would rather go for the slim...
yea i just bought a 160gb(i was expecting bw compt. but guess they stop making them like that totally) after the last price drop i prefer it than the the slim its shinny and sleek looking while the slim just looks dull and wierd kind of looks like someone step on the original a couple times
I dont really know what to make of the new slim i seen it in the flesh for the first time today in Game only diffrence to me outside the box is matt finish instead of shiny been on a diet,and lost some of its buttons,but the bonus of less power consumtion i think is a step in the right direction,I need to buy a new one as my 60gb BC has just died on me with the BR Player dying wont read disc's and freezes which is no good lol,I was going to send it back to Sony but since they said its out of warrenty they wanted £145 for the repair (They were basically sending me a refurbished 60gb for the money),
So i think im gonna go and buy the new Slimmy and take out the 160gb i put in my original 60gb and give it just a lil more space for all the PSN Games i have and Game installs.

your buying the Slim just to get the Hard drive? Dont be doing that, just get a SATA 2.5 Hard Drive, you could easyly find a 500G Or even a 750G For the price of the Slim, and still have money left over!

Nothing to do with the HDD mate if you re-read the post you will see my BR player has died it already has 160gb HDD in it.
