Not a pro on ps3 but the latest fw that can be softmodded is 3.55. You cant play online with cfw.

Iam new at ps3 , so if I play a backup ps3 game I can't play online ,
What if I had the game disc, or does that mean I can't at all play online , is jailbreaking a ps3 worth losing online play ?

If it came on 3.56 new then don't downgrade you will brick. Now if you bought it used then most likely you can downgrade with e3 flasher or progskeet, but it's not an easy task, from what I've heard.
You can downgrade with an infectus as well right? Or is that only for newer fws?
